<p>The Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, issued the alert at 10:00 AM on 20 August. This alert predicts rain in the districts of Ganganagar, Kota, Jhalawar, Baran, and Chittorgarh in Rajasthan. This alert is valid for the next three hours.</p>



<p>There is also a possibility of lightning during this period. Winds will also blow at a speed of 30 kilometres per hour.</p>



<p>According to the Meteorological Department, due to the formation of back-to-back low-pressure systems in the Bay of Bengal in the coming days, the monsoon will remain active in most parts of the state during the last week of August. <p>An attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ (public hearing) programme at her Civil Lines camp office on Wednesday, 20 August 2025, has sent shockwaves through political circles. Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra has made a significant claim, describing the attack as part of a ‘pre-planned conspiracy’.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mishra’s Statement on the Attack</h2>



<p>At approximately 8:15 am on Wednesday, while Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was hearing complaints from the public during the Jan Sunwai, Rajesh Bhai Khimji Bhai Sakaria, a 41-year-old resident of Rajkot, Gujarat, attacked her. The accused, posing as a complainant, gained entry and suddenly assaulted the CM, causing injuries to her head, shoulder, and hand. Following the attack, the accused was taken into custody by the Delhi Police, and a case has been registered against him under several sections, including attempted murder.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Claim of a Pre-planned Conspiracy</h2>



<p>Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra, speaking to reporters after meeting CM Rekha Gupta at her residence on Thursday, stated, “This was no ordinary attack. It was a hate-filled attack carried out as part of a pre-planned conspiracy. The attacker tried to kill the Chief Minister by throwing her to the ground.” He claimed that the accused had conducted reconnaissance of the CM’s private residence in Shalimar Bagh before the attack, evidence of which has been found in two videos and CCTV footage recovered from his phone. Mishra also stated that the accused is a professional criminal with nine criminal cases registered against him, including attempted murder and smuggling.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">CM’s Security Enhanced</h2>



<p>The incident has raised questions about the Chief Minister’s Z+ security arrangements. Given the seriousness of the attack, the Delhi Police has taken the accused into five-day remand and is investigating his call detail records (CDR) and social media accounts. The police are trying to ascertain the motive behind the attack and whether any larger conspiracy is involved. Sources indicate that the accused conducted reconnaissance of the CM’s residence on 19 August and stayed at Gujarat Bhavan in Civil Lines, just 800 metres from the CM’s camp office.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">CM Rekha Gupta’s Statement</h2>



<p>Following the attack, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta issued a statement on social media, saying, “The attack on me during the Jan Sunwai was not just an attack on me, but a cowardly attempt to undermine our commitment to serving Delhi and the welfare of its people. I was in shock, but I am feeling better now. Such attacks can never break my spirit or my resolve to serve the people.” She also clarified that she would soon resume her work amongst the public as before.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reactions from Former Chief Minister</h2>



<p>Opposition parties have also reacted to the incident. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and former CM Atishi condemned the attack and demanded strict action against the culprits. However, BJP MLA Harish Khurana claimed that the attacker had links to the AAP, a claim the AAP rejected, stating the photo was AI-generated.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Five Cases Registered Against the Accused</h2>



<p>Police investigations have revealed that the accused, Rajesh Bhai Khimji, is a history-sheeter with five previous criminal cases registered against him, including three cases of liquor smuggling and two of assault. The Delhi Police Special Cell and IB are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.</p>

<p><strong>Udaipur:</strong> Amit Jani, the producer of the controversial film &#8216;Udaipur Files&#8217; based on the Kanhaiyalal murder case, has received fresh threats on social media. Police have detained a young man in connection with these threats. The comments were posted on social media after Jani was hospitalised.</p>



<p>After his discharge from the hospital on Wednesday, Jani claimed that Bangladeshi individuals are instigating local residents and inciting them to murder him, similar to the killing of Kanhaiyalal.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Chest Pain Complaint</h2>



<p>Jani had travelled to Ahmedabad and then Udaipur in connection with the film&#8217;s release. He was admitted to a private hospital after complaining of chest pain. A man named Mohammad Shahid made threatening comments. Following a complaint, the police took Shahid into custody for questioning.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Amit Jani&#8217;s Allegations</h2>



<p>Jani alleges that he received a message stating, &#8220;We are 700 metres away and will send tiffin,&#8221; which he interpreted as a &#8220;tiffin bomb&#8221; threat. Furthermore, a Bangladeshi youth, Hamad, commented on social media, &#8220;The tiffin is expensive, send a knife.&#8221; Jani alleges that Kanhaiyalal&#8217;s murder in Udaipur was carried out by Pakistan-backed extremists and that similar threats are being made again.</p>



<p>Police have begun questioning Shahid. Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal stated that an investigation is underway to determine whether these are merely online comments or part of a larger network. Following allegations of Pakistani and Bangladeshi links, the police are taking the matter seriously. The threats have further heightened tensions in the city.</p>

<p>The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a fine of ₹10 lakh on ride-hailing company Rapido for running misleading advertisements. The action was taken due to advertisements such as ‘Guaranteed Auto’ and ‘Get an auto in 5 minutes or ₹50’, which misled customers and violated consumer rights.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Over 1,200 Complaints Filed</h2>



<p>According to the CCPA, these advertisements ran for 548 days across more than 120 cities in multiple languages, amplifying their misleading impact. Between June 2024 and July 2025, Rapido received over 1,200 consumer complaints, with half remaining unresolved. The regulator found that instead of the promised ₹50 cashback, Rapido offered ‘Rapido Coins’, valid for only seven days and usable only for bike rides.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Nature of Complaints</h2>



<p>Complaints included overcharging, non-refund of fares, rude behaviour by drivers, and failure to honour cashback promises. In some cases, complaints remained unresolved. The authority&#8217;s order stated that Rapido engaged in practices that misled customers, including exaggerating service reliability and concealing crucial information.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Refund Ordered</h2>



<p>The CCPA has ordered Rapido to immediately cease the misleading advertisements, refund ₹50 to affected customers, and submit a compliance report within 15 days. This action is considered a significant step in protecting consumer interests.</p>

<p>Sunil Gavaskar, former captain and legendary batsman of India, has strongly objected to the criticism surrounding the Indian players&#8217; participation in the Asia Cup 2025. <p>A case of fraud has come to light where over 3,000 people were duped under the guise of doubling their money. Police busted a large racket on Wednesday, arresting two fraudsters.</p>



<p>Cyberabad police arrested Gaddam Venugopal, director of A.V. Solutions and Srinivas Analytical Private Limited and a resident of Andhra Pradesh, and his employee, 55-year-old Shreyas Paul, from Hyderabad.</p>



<p>They are accused of defrauding 3,164 people across various states between 2022 and 2025 through stock market and other lucrative schemes.</p>



<p>They obtained ₹850.59 crore by making false promises of high returns, of which ₹618.23 crore was returned to investors as initial payouts. The fraudsters thus profited ₹232 crore.</p>



<p>Police stated that over 20 consultants, agents, technical developers, and website administrators were part of the fraudulent company.</p>



<p>They targeted people through fake companies like IIT Capital Technologies, AV Solutions, Srinivas Analytics Private Limited, and Trade Bulls Technology Private Limited.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">False Credibility Created Through Premium Offices</h2>



<p>Investigators revealed that the accused created false credibility by displaying fake SEBI, NSE, and BSE registrations, holding lavish investment seminars, and establishing premium offices.</p>



<p>They primarily targeted middle-class families, working professionals, and retirees, promising a 7% monthly return (84% annually) through AI-based predictions.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fraud Money Deposited in 21 Bank Accounts</h2>



<p>Police reported that the fraud money was deposited into 21 bank accounts and then invested in real estate, luxury cars, and gold. This fraud has devastated hundreds of families, with many falling into debt.</p>



<p>So far, police have seized luxury vehicles, electronic devices, financial documents, property papers, and a database of 3,164 victims.</p>



<p>It is believed that the accused destroyed several digital evidences and also threatened investors who tried to file complaints.</p>



<p>Police urged the public to be wary of such investment platforms and advised investors to verify SEBI registration through official portals.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fraud Against Senior Health Ministry Official</h2>



<p>Delhi police officials reported on Wednesday that a senior official of the Union Health Ministry was defrauded of ₹27 lakh under the pretext of investing in the money market.</p>



<p>According to Delhi Police, the victim alleged that a person contacted him in July 2023, inducing him to transfer ₹27 lakh for investment in the money market with a promise of doubling the money within a year. An FIR has been registered in this case.</p>


<p>Cyberabad police in Hyderabad have busted a fraud racket that duped over 3,000 people with promises of doubling their money. Police have arrested A.V. Solutions director Gaddam Venugopal and employee Shreyas Paul, both residents of Andhra Pradesh.</p>

<p><strong>Rajasthan Weather Today:</strong> The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for four districts of Rajasthan and a yellow alert for eleven districts. According to the Meteorological Department&#8217;s forecast, light to moderate rain and heavy rain is likely in these 15 districts of Rajasthan within 90 minutes. According to the latest forecast, there is a possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, light to moderate rain, and one or two spells of heavy rain at various locations in four districts of Rajasthan—Sawai Madhopur, Tonk , Bundi, and Bhilwara—and surrounding areas. During this time, strong winds are expected to blow at a speed of 30-40 KMPH.</p>

<p>According to the new forecast by the Meteorological Department, a yellow alert for rain has been issued for 11 districts of Rajasthan. There is a possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rain at various locations in Dausa, Karauli, Baran, Kota, Jhalawar, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Sirohi, Pali, Ajmer, and Nagaur districts. Strong winds are also expected to blow at a speed of 20–30 KMPH.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Increase in Rainfall Activity from 23 August</h2>



<p>The spell of rain continues in the south-western districts of Rajasthan. On Wednesday, rain occurred in many districts including Jaipur, Baran, Chittorgarh, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Sirohi, Kota, Jalore, and Jhalawar. The highest rainfall in the state in the last 24 hours was recorded at Loharia in Banswara at 100 millimetres. According to weather experts, similar weather is expected in Rajasthan for the next two days. There is a possibility of increased rainfall in the state from 23 August.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pleasant Weather in Jaipur After Wednesday Evening Rain</h2>



<p>After a long wait, Jaipur experienced a spell of rain on Wednesday evening. This brought relief to people suffering from the humidity and heat. According to the Meteorological Centre, rain occurred in many parts of the city after about 6 pm. Rain fell in areas including Rajapark, JLN Marg, Malviya Nagar, Jawahar Circle, and Tonk Road. The maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 34.4 degrees Celsius. A drop of up to three degrees was recorded in the temperature after the rain.</p>

<p><strong>Rinku Singh in a New Role:</strong> Star Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is eager to play in the Asia Cup 2025 and is confident of proving his mettle, provided he secures a place in the playing eleven. After a few underwhelming IPL seasons, this KKR star player is all set to don the blue jersey once again in this eight-nation tournament.</p>



<p>Ahead of the Asia Cup, Rinku clarified that he is not a finisher, but he is comfortable batting at any position.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">I am not a finisher &#8211; Rinku Singh</h2>



<p>In a conversation with TOI, Rinku Singh claimed that he batted best at number five. He explicitly stated, &#8220;I am not a finisher.&#8221; The KKR batsman cited his performance in IPL 2023 to substantiate his claim, stating that the season was the best phase of his life, where he scored 474 runs at an average of 59.25 in 14 matches. He added, &#8220;Even when I played for India, I played at number five and scored three fifties for Team India.&#8221;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">‘All-rounders are prioritised’</h2>



<p>India&#8217;s head coach Gautam Gambhir&#8217;s preference for all-rounders in any format of the game is quite clear. Meanwhile, Rinku Singh is also prepared to take on new roles with the evolution of the game. The Uttar Pradesh star revealed that he has bowled extensively in domestic cricket and has also taken wickets in matches.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">‘I am ready’</h2>



<p>Rinku further stated that cricket has become fast-paced, and selectors believe that a player possessing both bowling and batting skills benefits the team. All-rounders are preferred in the team. Therefore, I have also been bowling for some time now. Although I didn&#8217;t do it much earlier, I am ready for it now.</p>

Bronco Test: BCCI Introduces New Fitness Test for Cricketers


<p><strong>Bronco Test:</strong> The BCCI&#8217;s Centre of Excellence has introduced a new fitness test called the Bronco Test following the India vs England Test series. The aim of this new test is to ensure that BCCI centrally contracted players, especially fast bowlers, maintain a high level of fitness and improve their aerobic capacity. Reports suggest the Bronco Test was introduced after several players were found to be lacking in fitness during the five-match Test series in England.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Some Contracted Players Have Taken the Bronco Test</h2>



<p>According to a report in <em>The Indian Express</em>, the suggestion to introduce the new fitness test came from strength and conditioning coach Adrian Le Roux, and head coach Gautam Gambhir also agreed. The report states that the coaches want players, especially fast bowlers, to focus more on running rather than spending excessive time in the gym. It is understood that some contracted players have already taken the Bronco Test at the Bengaluru-based Centre of Excellence (COE).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fast Bowlers Spending More Time in the Gym Than Running</h2>



<p>The report, quoting sources, says the Bronco Test is being used to ensure that fitness standards are clear. It has also been observed that Indian cricketers, especially fast bowlers, are not running enough and are spending too much time in the gym. Players have been told they need to run more.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Yo-Yo Test Remains Mandatory</h2>



<p>Several Indian bowlers, including Akashdeep and Prasidh Krishna, struggled with their bowling during the India vs England Test series. Jasprit Bumrah played only three Tests under workload management, while only Mohammed Siraj managed to play all five. The Bronco Test is in addition to the existing Yo-Yo test; passing the Yo-Yo test remains mandatory.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How the Bronco Test Works</h2>



<p>A player starts with a 20-metre shuttle run, followed by 40-metre and 60-metre runs. These three runs constitute one set. A player must complete five such sets (a total of 1200 metres) without stopping. Indian cricketers are required to complete the Bronco Test within a 6-minute interval. The standard for fast bowlers in a 2-kilometre time trial is 8 minutes 15 seconds. For batsmen, wicketkeepers, and spinners, it is 8 minutes 30 seconds.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Yo-Yo Test</h2>



<p>The Yo-Yo test involves running between two points 20 metres apart, with a 10-second rest between each shuttle. The speed and duration of the beeps increase as the level rises. The player must continue running until they fail twice. A score of 16.5 is required to pass.</p>


<p>Bronco Test: The BCCI&#8217;s Centre of Excellence has introduced a new fitness test called the &#8216;Bronco&#8217; for Indian cricketers. Slightly different from the Yo-Yo test, it aims to maintain the high fitness levels of players, especially fast bowlers.</p>

Solar Panel Scam in Rajasthan: ₹456 Crore Tender Fraud


<p><strong>Jaipur:</strong> A major alleged scam has come to light in Rajasthan involving a ₹456 crore tender for installing solar panels on government buildings. The company awarded the contract allegedly submitted a fraudulent bank guarantee of ₹60 crore.</p>



<p>The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RREC) released ₹46 crore in advance against this guarantee to commence the work. The matter came to light after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) intervened. The RREC has issued a notice to the company and is preparing to blacklist it and file an FIR.</p>



<p>The corporation awarded the contract to the firm Tiriy Nopicon under the Hem Model. All officials associated with this project are under suspicion. The company was given the contract for a 100-megawatt rooftop solar project in March-April this year.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Corporation Sends Team to Kolkata</h2>



<p>After the bank admitted the involvement of its employees, the RREC sent a team to Kolkata. Upon inquiring with the relevant bank management, the bank guarantee was found to be fraudulent. The company has also filed an FIR in another related matter. Meanwhile, the RREC believes that this could not have been the work of a single bank employee and that there was collusion with company employees.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How the Scam Unfolded</h2>



<p>The company that won the contract could deposit 10 percent of the project cost as a bank guarantee and receive an equivalent advance. Sources say that the RREC initially confirmed the guarantee via email from the bank. However, the CBI subsequently requested documents related to the company from the RREC. Further investigation prompted the RREC to seek written confirmation from the bank, which revealed that no such bank guarantee had been issued.</p>

<p>The path to citizenship in the United States has become more challenging for green card holders. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the agency responsible for citizenship and green card matters, has issued a new order.</p>



<p>This order states that officials must now conduct a more thorough background check of applicants&#8217; character before granting citizenship.</p>



<p>Currently, green card holders can apply for citizenship after 3 or 5 years. They must pass English and civics tests and prove they haven&#8217;t committed any serious crimes. This will no longer suffice.</p>



<p>Officials will now also investigate whether the individual contributes positively to society. This includes factors such as community service, childcare or elder care, education, employment, tax payments, and length of residence in the US.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Problematic Behaviour Will Cause Issues</h2>



<p>Behaviour that, while not criminal, is considered socially unacceptable will also be scrutinised. This includes repeated traffic violations or aggressively harassing others. However, any attempts at remediation or improvement will also be taken into consideration.</p>

<p>Elon Musk, the world&#8217;s richest person and CEO of Tesla, has temporarily shelved his political ambitions. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Musk announced plans in July to form a new political party called the ‘America Party’, causing a stir in US politics, but he has now abandoned this plan.</p>



<p>The report suggests Musk is planning to endorse Republican leader J.D. Vance if he becomes a presidential candidate after Donald Trump&#8217;s second term. Musk previously stated that the public desired a new political party and he would deliver, but he has now changed his stance, considering his relationship with Vance.</p>

The Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) is set to recruit a total of 12,543 candidates this year. The commission has conducted examinations for various competitive exams and departmental positions, with many results already declared. Some examinations are underway, and notifications for new recruitment examinations will also be released in the coming months.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Key Recruitments This Year</h2>



<p><strong>Field Assistant (201 posts):</strong> The written examination for these posts has been conducted.</p>



<p><strong>Second Inter-Level Combined Competitive Examination (12,199 posts):</strong> A large number of appointments will be made through this.</p>



<p><strong>Laboratory Assistant (143 posts):</strong> Preparations for the appointment process are underway.</p>



<p><strong>Office Attendant (Specific) (238 posts):</strong> The examination for this was held on 11 May.</p>



<p><strong>Welfare Manager/Lower Division Clerk (56 posts):</strong> This examination was conducted on 29 June.</p>

<p>The results for the Office Attendant (Specific) examination have been released for 25 districts. However, the results for Gaya and Siwan districts are yet to be declared and will be published soon.</p>

<p><strong>Pala Suresh Passed Away:</strong> The film industry was still reeling from the death of 3 Idiots&#8217; famous actor, Achyut Potdar, when South Indian mimicry artist Pala Suresh also passed away. He died at his home after being found unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The news sent shockwaves through the film industry.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mimicry Artist Dies at 53 </h2>



<p>According to reports, Suresh, reportedly suffering from heart disease, was undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College Hospital. He lived with his family in a rented house near Thekkumuttypady in Piravom. He would wake up at his usual time every day, but when he didn&#8217;t wake up on Sunday morning, his family tried to open the door. Upon opening it, they found Pala Suresh unconscious. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.</p>
