India&#39;s First Bullet Train: Mumbai-Ahmedabad Journey in Two Hours


<p>India’s first bullet train, connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad, is soon to commence operations. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the bullet train travel time will be reduced to just 2 hours and 7 minutes. This project marks a significant revolution in the country&#8217;s railway system. He inaugurated three new trains at Bhavnagar station in Gujarat and stated that the bullet train project is progressing rapidly. This 508-kilometre high-speed rail line will run from Mumbai&#8217;s Bandra Kurla Complex to key cities in Gujarat: Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad. According to the Railway Minister, the train will achieve speeds of up to 320 kilometres per hour. Furthermore, several other railway projects are underway in Gujarat, including a Porbandar-Rajkot new train line, a ₹135 crore coach maintenance facility in Ranavav, railway flyovers, and two Gati Shakti cargo terminals.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">34,000 Kilometres of New Railway Tracks Laid in 11 Years</h2>



<p>He mentioned that 34,000 kilometres of new railway tracks have been laid in the last 11 years, averaging approximately 12 kilometres per day. Simultaneously, the renovation of 1300 railway stations is underway, representing the largest such undertaking in the history of Indian Railways.</p>

<p>Vaishnaw stated that India is undertaking these transformations while maintaining uninterrupted train services, reflecting Prime Minister Modi&#8217;s vision. He also highlighted the success of modern trains like Vande Bharat Express, Amrit Bharat Express, and Namo Bharat Express. Railway projects are also progressing rapidly in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, aided by double-engine governments in those states.</p>

<p><strong>54 Dead:</strong> A boat capsized in the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Abyan Governorate, Yemen, resulting in the deaths of 54 people, with over 80 others missing. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) stated that the boat carried 154 Ethiopian nationals seeking better lives in Gulf countries.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">54 Bodies Recovered</h2>



<p>The IOM reported that 54 bodies were recovered off the coast of Yemen&#8217;s Khanfar district. IOM Yemen official Abdusattor Asoev stated that only 12 people survived. Asoev added that a large-scale rescue operation was launched in the Gulf of Aden following the incident. Local authorities and rescue teams are continuously engaged in search operations.</p>



<p>The IOM official noted that despite Yemen itself enduring a decade-long civil war, it remains a transit point for African migrants heading towards Gulf countries. They explained that Yemen serves as a key hub for reaching other Gulf nations. African migrants often undertake perilous sea journeys in overcrowded boats arranged by human traffickers. They cited a similar incident in March 2025, where four boats sank between Yemen and Djibouti, leaving 186 people missing.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">15 Deaths in Libya Last Week</h2>



<p>Earlier, on Friday, 25 July, a migrant boat capsized off the Libyan coast, resulting in the deaths of 15 Egyptian nationals. Libyan authorities, citing Marwan Al-Shaeri, media spokesperson for the General Administration of the Coast Guard in Tobruk, stated that the boat was heading towards Europe and carried numerous passengers. The boat capsized at approximately 2 am near the eastern Libyan city of Tobruk. Al-Shaeri confirmed that all those killed were Egyptian citizens. A similar incident occurred in June, where a migrant boat carrying 32 people capsized near the Libyan coast due to engine failure, resulting in one death and 22 missing persons.</p>

<p>Shibu Soren, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, passed away this morning. He breathed his last at Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi, at the age of 81 on Monday, 4 August. His son and current Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, confirmed the news. He had been suffering from a prolonged illness and had been hospitalised for approximately a month and a half.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Suffering from Kidney Ailment</h2>



<p>Shibu Soren had been battling a kidney ailment. He suffered a stroke about a month and a half ago, leading to his hospitalisation. He was on life support in the ICU, under the constant care of a team of doctors. However, his condition deteriorated significantly on Sunday, and he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:56 am on Monday.</p>

<p>Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Shibu served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand three times. His first term lasted from 2 March 2005 to 12 March 2005 — just 10 days. He then served from 27 August 2008 to 18 January 2009 for 145 days. His third term was from 30 December 2009 to 31 May 2010, lasting 153 days. He was never able to complete a full term as Chief Minister.</p>

<p>Rewa Gangwar Firing: In a blatant challenge to law and order, bike-borne youths created chaos in the city. A gang war (Rewa Gangwar) erupted between two groups, with weapon-wielding youths attacking each other. The accused also fired from country-made pistols. The incident created a panic in the entire neighbourhood. Police, arriving at the scene, sent two injured individuals to the hospital.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Over 12 Youths Arrived on Bikes</h2>



<p>The incident is reported from the Indira Nagar neighbourhood under the Samaan police station. Around 12 youths, riding bikes, gathered in a field. Simultaneously, a similar number of youths from the opposing group arrived, armed with weapons. A fierce fight ensued between the two groups. The accused attacked each other with hockey sticks, rods, and other weapons, terrifying the locals. The field turned into a battleground, with the accused wreaking havoc unchecked. Reports also suggest that the accused fired shots.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Injured Admitted to Hospital, Treatment Underway</h2>



<p>Locals informed the police, who arrived at the scene. The fleeing accused attacked a youth in the ViVi police station area, hitting him with the butt of a pistol, injuring him. Police arriving at the scene found two youths injured and sent them to the hospital for treatment. The injured have been identified as Aryan Singh and Ritik Sen.</p>



<p>Police are currently waiting for the injured to recover before recording their statements. The initial investigation has not revealed the cause of the dispute or the names of the accused. However, the police are currently denying that any shots were fired.</p>

<p><strong>Ganpati Festival 2025 Special Trains:</strong> Central Railway has announced 44 new special trains for the upcoming Ganpati Mahotsav, bringing much-needed relief to Ganesh devotees. Two additional services have also been added to the Diva-Chiplun-Diva MEMU daily unreserved trains. This announcement increases the total number of Ganpati special trains from 250 to 296.</p>



<p>Ganpati Festival is considered the biggest and most grand festival in Maharashtra, especially in Mumbai and the Konkan region. Millions of devotees travel to their villages during this time. Every year, the railway runs special trains to manage this crowd and ease travel for the people. This year, the number of services has been further increased, providing significant relief to passengers.</p>



<p>A key addition is a bi-weekly special train between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Sawantwadi Road, operating a total of 8 trips. This train will depart from LTT at 8:45 AM on Thursdays and Sundays (28 August, 31 August, 4 September, and 7 September), arriving at Sawantwadi Road at 10:20 PM the same day.</p>



<p>The return journey from Sawantwadi Road will depart at 11:20 PM on the same dates, arriving at LTT, Mumbai at 12:30 PM the next day. This train will have 20 stops, including major stations like Thane, Panvel, Roha, Ratnagiri, Kudal, and Sindhudurg. The train&#8217;s composition will include two AC-3 tier coaches, twelve sleeper coaches, six general second-class coaches, and two guard brake vans.</p>



<p>Furthermore, 36 services of MEMU daily unreserved special trains between Diva and Khed will be introduced. From Diva, the train will depart daily at 1:40 PM from 22 August to 8 September, reaching Khed at 8:00 PM the same day. The return train will depart from Khed at 8:00 AM daily from 23 August to 9 September, arriving at Diva at 1:00 PM. This train, an 8-coach MEMU rake, will stop at several local stations including Panvel, Roha, Indapur, and Vinhere.</p>



<p>Two additional services have also been added to the previously announced Diva-Chiplun-Diva MEMU daily unreserved special trains. This train will now operate 40 trips and run from 22 August to 10 September. The railway has also simplified the reservation system for passenger convenience.</p>



<p>Bookings for Ganpati Special Train number 01131 commenced on 3 August at all computerised reservation centres and on the website <a href="www.irctc.co.in">www.irctc.co.in</a>. Tickets for unreserved compartments can be purchased through the UTS app or at the station, and the fare will be as per the usual charges for superfast mail/express trains.</p>



<p>With this addition, the total number of previously announced 250 trains has increased to 296. This initiative by the railway is a boon for the thousands of Ganesh devotees who travel from Mumbai and surrounding areas to Konkan during Ganesh Utsav. This will ensure a safe and convenient journey for these passengers.</p>

<p>Secondary Education Director Sitaram Jat has issued orders for the transfer of 509 principals across the state. </p>



<p>The order states that the transferred principals should be relieved of their duties with immediate effect and assume charge at their new postings. They are also required to upload this information on the Shaala Darpan portal. </p>



<p>Omprakash Khatik of the Jahazpur region has been appointed as APO and attached to the Directorate of Secondary Education headquarters in Bikaner. ADE0 Secondary Education Vikas Joshi has been posted to the Government Senior Secondary School, Salmgarh, Pratapgarh.</p>



<p>It is noteworthy that for several months, the education department had been stating that there would be no transfers this time. Education Minister Madan Dilawar himself had reiterated this on various platforms. Despite this, teachers&#8217; organisations had consistently maintained that transfers would take place and would be sudden. The list includes 26 principals and officials from Bhilwara district, who have been transferred to different locations. <p>कोटाशहर में एक दिन की विराम के बाद दोपहर 12.30 बजे के बाद तेज बारिश हुई, जिससे शहर की सड़कों पर चहल-पहल थम गई। बारिश इतनी तेज थी कि लोग जहां थे,वहीं रुक गए। कई लोग वाहन चलाते हुए भीगते हुए गंतव्य तक पहुंचे। करीब आधे घंटे तक अच्छी बारिश हुई, जिससे मौसम में ठंडक लौट आई। शाम होते-होते फिरसे बादल घिर आए और शाम 5 बजे के बाद रिमझिम बारिश शुरू हो गई, जो शाम 6 बजे तक बूंदाबांदी के रूप में जारी रही। कोटा शहर में 9.6 एमएम बारिश दर्ज की<br />
गई।</p>

<p> राखड़ प्लांट से ट्रैक्टर चोरी का आरोपी फरियादी ही निकला है। वह प्लांट में राखड़ उठाने का ठेका लेने वाली कंपनी का सुपरवाइजर ही निकला। आरोपी ने अपने दोस्त की मदद से ट्रैक्टर चोरी करवाया, इसके बाद उसे बेच दिया। मूंदी से पंजाब तक 50 लोकेशन पर 100 से अधिक सीसीटीवी कैमरे के वीडियो देख आरोपी तक पहुंची। पुलिस ने मुख्य आरोपी सुपरवाइजर व उसके दोस्त को पंजाब से गिरफ्तार किया है। </p>
