
<p><strong>BFUHS Recruitment 2025:</strong> Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) has released an official notification for recruitment to Staff Nurse positions. <p>Regarding educational qualifications, candidates must have passed the 10th standard. A Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is also required. Registration with the Punjab Nursing Registration Council is also mandatory. Regarding the age limit:</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Selection Process and Salary</h2>



<p>Candidates will be selected based on a written examination. Selection will primarily be based on a written examination and experience. The written examination will carry a total of 90 marks. A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Staff Nurse is required, which will be evaluated based on 10 marks. Selected candidates will receive a salary of ₹29,200 per month.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Application Fee</h2>



<p>Regarding the application fee, candidates will have to pay ₹2,360 as an application fee. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will have to pay ₹1,180. Further details regarding the recruitment can be found in the notification.</p>

NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan files nomination for vice president post.


<p><strong>Vice President Election:</strong> CP Radhakrishnan, the NDA&#8217;s candidate for the post of Vice President and Governor of Maharashtra, filed his nomination today, 20 August 2025, at Parliament House. Prime Minister Narendra Modi served as the main proposer in the nomination process.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Nomination Filed in Four Sets</h2>



<p>The nomination was filed in four sets, each containing signatures of 20 proposers and 20 seconders. The first set included Prime Minister Modi&#8217;s signature, while the remaining sets included signatures of Union Ministers and senior NDA leaders. Approximately 160 NDA MPs and ministers were present during the filing, showcasing the alliance&#8217;s unity.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Appointed at BJP Parliamentary Board Meeting</h2>



<p>CP Radhakrishnan, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a two-time Member of Parliament from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, was declared the NDA&#8217;s Vice Presidential candidate on 17 August. This decision was taken at a BJP Parliamentary Board meeting attended by senior leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Vice Presidential Election on 9 September</h2>



<p>The Vice Presidential election will be held on 9 September 2025, with the counting of votes taking place on the same day. The last date for filing nominations is 21 August, while candidates can withdraw their names until 25 August. This election became necessary following the resignation of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on 21 July due to health reasons.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Long Association with RSS</h2>



<p>Radhakrishnan, who hails from Tirupur district in Tamil Nadu and has a long association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), is known for his non-controversial image and parliamentary knowledge. <p>Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced three bills in the Lok Sabha today. These bills include a provision for the removal from office of the PM, CM, Union Minister, or Minister of a Union Territory if they are arrested or detained for more than 30 consecutive days on serious criminal charges. The Congress and AIMIM opposed this bill. The opposition also staged a strong protest in the House.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>The opposition threw bills at Amit Shah</strong></h2>



<p>After Amit Shah introduced the three bills, an uproar broke out. Opposition MPs, after reading the bills, tore up the copies and threw the papers towards Amit Shah.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Owaisi raised objections</strong></h2>



<p>The AIMIM MP opposed the bills, saying that they violate the separation of powers. He stated that they give executive agencies the authority to act as judge, jury, and executioner. The bill would empower unelected individuals to assume the role of executioner. Owaisi further said that the provisions of this bill could be used to destabilise governments. He added that this bill is nothing but a step towards creating a Gestapo.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>The bill will be sent to the JPC</strong></h2>



<p>After introducing the bill in the Lok Sabha regarding the removal of the Prime Minister, ministers, and chief ministers facing serious criminal charges, Amit Shah said that it would be referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Congress opposed the bills</strong></h2>



<p>Congress MP Manish Tewari said, “I oppose the introduction of these three bills. These bills completely destroy the basic structure of the Constitution. They open the door for political misuse by state institutions, whose arbitrary conduct has been repeatedly objected to by the Supreme Court.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Rule of law must prevail – Congress MP</strong></h2>



<p>In the Lok Sabha, the Congress MP said that the Indian Constitution states that there must be rule of law, and its foundation is that a person is innocent until proven guilty. This bill is expected to alter that principle. It makes an official of an executive agency the boss of the Prime Minister.</p>

<p>A horrific road accident occurred in Herat province, Afghanistan, on Tuesday. The devastating crash involved a passenger bus carrying deported Afghan citizens returning from Iran. The bus collided with a motorcycle and then a fuel tanker, resulting in a fire engulfing the bus. This accident took place in the Guzara district, outside Herat city. The passengers were recently deported Afghan nationals travelling from the Islam Qala border crossing towards Kabul.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">71 Killed</h2>



<p>This tragic accident resulted in the deaths of 71 people, including 17 children. The death toll also includes two people on the truck and two on the motorcycle.</p>

<p>Heavy rainfall continues in Maharashtra for the fifth consecutive day, causing significant hardship for the general public. While the intensity of rain has reduced somewhat in Mumbai today, intermittent heavy showers are still hindering daily activities. The torrential downpour of the past two days caused severe waterlogging, making life difficult for people in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and several other districts of the state.</p>



<p>The heavy rain in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, on Monday and Tuesday completely disrupted daily life. Mumbai recorded record rainfall in the past 24 hours. Vikroli recorded 223.5 mm, Santacruz 206.6 mm, Bhaykhala 184.0 mm, Juhu 148.5 mm, Bandra 132.5 mm, and Colaba 100.2 mm of rainfall. The Meteorological Department issued a warning of heavy rainfall in Mumbai and the entire Konkan region today, while a red alert has been issued for Ratnagiri district.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lonavala receives 418 mm rainfall in 24 hours</h2>



<p>Mumbai and its suburban areas have been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past several days. Similarly, the Ghat regions of Maharashtra have received torrential rain. A situation akin to landslides has developed in the Ghat areas of Pune, Nashik, Satara, and Kolhapur. In the 24 hours to Tuesday, Tamhini Ghat recorded 575 mm, Bhira 568 mm, Shirgaon 430 mm, Davdi 419 mm, Lonavala 418 mm, Matheran 438 mm, and Khandala 412 mm of rainfall. However, the administration is making every effort to ensure that the general public does not face any difficulties.</p>



<p>The Meteorological Department has predicted that heavy rainfall will continue in Maharashtra until 21 August. According to the IMD, widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over Konkan and adjoining Ghat areas of central Maharashtra until 21 August.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mumbai administration on alert</h2>



<p>The Meteorological Department has issued an ‘orange’ alert, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai Metropolitan Region on Wednesday. However, as of 10 am, there are no reports of major waterlogging or other problems due to the rain. Central Railway, Western Railway, Harbour Railway, and ‘BEST’ bus services are operating smoothly. Mumbai Police, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), and other emergency services are monitoring the situation.</p>

<p><strong>Earthquake:</strong> Tremors were felt this morning in Himachal Pradesh, India, and neighbouring Pakistan, causing widespread panic. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS) and the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the earthquake measured 4.0 and 3.3 on the Richter scale in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, and 3.7 in Pakistan, respectively.</p>

<p>The first tremor in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, was felt at 3:27 AM, and the second at 4:39 AM. In Pakistan, the epicentre was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, where a 3.7 magnitude tremor struck at 2:38 AM. People in cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, and Abbottabad felt the tremors and rushed out of their homes in panic.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">National Center for Seismology provides information</h2>



<p>According to the National Center for Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake in Pakistan was 190 kilometers below the Earth&#8217;s surface, while in Chamba, it was 10 kilometers deep. Experts say that Himachal Pradesh and the Hindu Kush region are susceptible to earthquakes due to their location on the boundary of tectonic plates.</p>

<p>Currently, there are no reports of loss of life or property from either India or Pakistan. The administration has appealed to people to remain vigilant and contact the authorities in case of emergency. <p>During his visit, on Wednesday, 20 August, Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar will co-chair the 26th session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC). Jaishankar will also address a meeting of the India-Russia Business Forum in Moscow. During his meeting with Lavrov, Jaishankar will review India-Russia bilateral relations, discuss regional and global issues, and explore ways to further strengthen the India-Russia special strategic partnership.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">India&#8217;s friendship with Russia deepens</h2>



<p>Amidst US President Donald Trump&#8217;s &#8216;tariff war&#8217;, India&#8217;s friendship with Russia is deepening. A few days ago, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also visited Russia and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During Doval&#8217;s visit, an agreement was reached for Putin&#8217;s visit to India. </p>



<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Putin have spoken twice on the phone this month. Putin even briefed PM Modi after his meeting with Trump. Now, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar has also arrived in Russia. He may also meet with Putin during this visit. Solar Panel Scam in Rajasthan: ₹456 Crore Tender Fraud


<p><strong>Jaipur:</strong> A major alleged scam has come to light in Rajasthan involving a ₹456 crore tender for installing solar panels on government buildings. The company awarded the contract allegedly submitted a fraudulent bank guarantee of ₹60 crore.</p>



<p>The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RREC) released ₹46 crore in advance against this guarantee to commence the work. The matter came to light after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) intervened. The RREC has issued a notice to the company and is preparing to blacklist it and file an FIR.</p>



<p>The corporation awarded the contract to the firm Tiriy Nopicon under the Hem Model. All officials associated with this project are under suspicion. The company was given the contract for a 100-megawatt rooftop solar project in March-April this year.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Corporation Sends Team to Kolkata</h2>



<p>After the bank admitted the involvement of its employees, the RREC sent a team to Kolkata. Upon inquiring with the relevant bank management, the bank guarantee was found to be fraudulent. The company has also filed an FIR in another related matter. Meanwhile, the RREC believes that this could not have been the work of a single bank employee and that there was collusion with company employees.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How the Scam Unfolded</h2>



<p>The company that won the contract could deposit 10 percent of the project cost as a bank guarantee and receive an equivalent advance. Sources say that the RREC initially confirmed the guarantee via email from the bank. However, the CBI subsequently requested documents related to the company from the RREC. Further investigation prompted the RREC to seek written confirmation from the bank, which revealed that no such bank guarantee had been issued.</p>

<p>The Indian Air Force (IAF) has been grappling with a shortage of fighter jets for the past few years. While the IAF requires a total of 42 squadrons, it currently operates only 29, many of which are older generation fighter jets. This has prompted the IAF to expedite efforts to bolster its strength to effectively counter threats on two fronts simultaneously. In a significant move, the Modi government has approved a ₹62,000 crore project to procure 97 Light Combat Aircraft Mark 1A (LCA Mark 1A) fighter jets for the IAF.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">HCL Receives Order</h2>



<p>According to news agency ANI, the approval for the fighter jet purchase was granted following a high-level meeting. This paves the way for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to commence production. Under the Modi government&#8217;s &#8216;Make in India&#8217; initiative, HAL has received large-scale orders from the Air Force. These orders encompass various indigenous fighter aircraft, helicopters, and their engines. This will be the second order for LCA Mark 1A fighter jets for HAL; the government previously ordered 83 aircraft, with a target completion date of 2028.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Light Combat Aircraft Mark 1A: An Advanced Version of Tejas</h2>



<p>The Light Combat Aircraft Mark 1A is an advanced version of the Tejas, featuring new and upgraded avionics and radar systems. Over 60% of the LCA Mark-1A is indigenously manufactured. Similar to the Tejas, it is a single-engine light combat aircraft. HAL has stated that they will soon begin delivering Tejas aircraft to the Indian Air Force. The LCA Mark 1A is expected to replace the MiG-21, MiG-23, and MiG-27. Notably, the MiG-21 fighter jet, after 62 years of service with the IAF, is being retired on September 19th.</p>

<p>According to reports, Suresh, reportedly suffering from heart disease, was undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College Hospital. He lived with his family in a rented house near Thekkumuttypady in Piravom. He would wake up at his usual time every day, but when he didn&#8217;t wake up on Sunday morning, his family tried to open the door. Upon opening it, they found Pala Suresh unconscious. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.</p>
