
<p><strong>Voter Adhikar Yatra </strong>will conclude in Patna on Monday. Instead of a rally, a padyatra will be held at Patna&#8217;s Gandhi Maidan to mark the culmination of the Yatra. <p>The Mahagathbandhan has named its padyatra &#8216;Gandhi to Ambedkar&#8217;. Initially, a rally was planned at Patna&#8217;s Gandhi Maidan before the padyatra. However, due to the unavailability of Gandhi Maidan on September 1st, the day of the Congress rally, this decision was changed. Instead of securing an alternative venue like the Veterinary College ground or Miller ground, Congress directly announced the padyatra. The reason for this change remains unclear. While the message Rahul Gandhi aims to convey through this padyatra will be revealed tomorrow, Congress workers are quite enthusiastic about it.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Padyatra Route in Patna </h2>



<p>The padyatra will commence at 10:00 AM from Gate Number One of Gandhi Maidan. It will then proceed via SP Verma Road, Dakbangla Chauraha, Kotwali Thana, Income Tax Golumber, and Nehru Path before reaching the Ambedkar statue. Congress leaders claim that approximately one lakh people will participate in this march. They specify that around one lakh participants will be Congress leaders alone, with other Mahagathbandhan party workers participating separately.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">1300-Kilometre Yatra Concludes Tomorrow </h2>



<p>After a day of rest on Sunday, August 31st, the Voter Adhikar Yatra will conclude in Patna on Monday with the padyatra. Mahagathbandhan workers have been working day and night for the past two days to ensure the successful culmination of the Yatra. The Yatra began on August 17th from Sasaram, Bihar, covering approximately 1300 kilometres across 24 districts and 50 assembly constituencies.</p>

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Plant Head Sunil Tiwari, Tata Motors Workers Union President Shashi Bhushan Prasad, General Secretary R.K. <p>To ensure Ukraine&#8217;s security, these 26 countries have planned military and diplomatic responses to any future Russian aggression. Their plan involves deploying troops to Ukraine following the establishment of peace. This encompasses land, air, and maritime security.</p>

<p>Russia has strongly criticised this security guarantee plan. The Russian Foreign Ministry deemed it unacceptable, describing it as a threat to the European continent. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed Western security guarantees for Ukraine, stating that foreign, particularly European and American, troops cannot assure Ukraine&#8217;s safety. Peskov warned that the deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine would be considered a provocation and met with a strong response.</p>

<p>The railway has informed that train number 12413 Ajmer-Jamutvi will run on 6th September as per its scheduled time.</p>

<p>In view of the waterlogging situation on the Yamuna Bridge in Delhi, the routes of several trains have been changed. Train number 14312 Bhuj-Bareilly and 15014 Kathgodam-Jaisalmer will run via the Sahibabad-New Delhi-Delhi route on Friday. Train number 14311 Bareilly-Bhuj will run via Sahibabad-New Delhi-Delhi Sarai on Saturday.</p>

<p>Punjab is currently grappling with its worst flood disaster in decades. Heavy rainfall and water inflow from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu &amp; Kashmir have caused the Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, and Ghaggar rivers to swell, submerging 1902 villages across 23 districts of the state. This natural calamity has claimed 43 lives so far, affecting over 3.55 lakh people. The floods have devastated 1.71 lakh hectares of agricultural land, causing significant losses to farmers.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Worst Affected Districts</h2>



<p>Gurdaspur district is the worst affected, with 324 villages inundated. Amritsar (135 villages), Hoshiarpur (119 villages), Kapurthala (115 villages), Firozpur (76 villages), and Fazilka (72 villages) have also suffered extensive damage. Districts like Barnala, Mansa, Patiala, and Jalandhar have also experienced flood damage to fields, homes, and infrastructure.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Casualties and Relief Efforts</h2>



<p>The Punjab government has declared the state a disaster-affected area. An elderly couple died in Barnala after their house collapsed. Six deaths were reported in Pathankot, and three each in Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Mansa, Rupnagar, and Barnala. The army, air force, NDRF, BSF, and local administration are involved in relief and rescue operations. So far, 19,597 people have been moved to safer locations, including 5,581 in Gurdaspur and 3,432 in Firozpur. 174 relief camps have been set up in the state, of which 74 are active.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Over 1 Lakh Acres of Crops Destroyed</h2>



<p>The floods have submerged over 3.75 lakh acres of agricultural land, with paddy crops suffering the most significant damage. Over 1 lakh acres of crops have been destroyed in Gurdaspur, while 56,834 acres in Amritsar and 42,020 acres in Mansa have been affected. Livestock has also suffered heavy losses, endangering the livelihoods of rural families.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">High Alert Issued</h2>



<p>A high alert has been issued for villages near the Ghaggar River in Patiala&#8217;s Patra area. The Punjab government has ordered the closure of all educational institutions until 7 September. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has visited the affected areas and appealed to the central government for assistance. Aam Aadmi Party&#8217;s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to visit the flood-affected areas on Thursday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also spoken to CM Mann and assured all possible assistance.</p>

<p><strong>Jaipur.</strong> A lane system is being implemented on Delhi Road, from Chandwaji to Shahjahanpur, a distance of 125 kilometres, to curb the rising number of road accidents. This pilot project will commence strictly from 6 September.</p>



<p>Under the leadership of the Jaipur Rural and Kotputli-Bahadur police superintendents, an awareness campaign has been conducted for the past 10 days. Hotel, dhabas (roadside restaurants), and highway rest stops were visited to educate drivers about lane driving. During this campaign, more than 100 illegal cuts were closed.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Monitoring System</h2>



<ul>
<li>Police teams will record videos of vehicles on the highway.</li>



<li>Videos will be uploaded to a group.</li>



<li>Teams stationed at toll plazas and five other locations will issue challans (fines) based on these videos.</li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Action for Violations</h2>



<ul>
<li>A fine of ₹2000 will be imposed for violating the lane system.</li>



<li>Additional fines will be levied for other violations of the Motor Vehicles Act.</li>



<li>Vehicles will be impounded if documents are not available.</li>
</ul>



<p>Road accidents have been increasing due to speeding and erratic driving on the highway. To curb this, a lane system has been implemented under a pilot project from Chandwaji to Shahjahanpur. <p>Bollywood, Hollywood, Tollywood, or even Kollywood films reign in the hearts of viewers for years based on their stories. Many films create a legacy that spans generations. Bollywood boasts several such films. Today, we discuss <em>Deewaar</em>, released in 1975. Its dialogues and Amitabh Bachchan’s portrayal of the &#8216;Angry Young Man&#8217; remain etched in people&#8217;s memories even today. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">50 Years of Blockbuster Film <em>Deewaar</em> </h2>

<p>This year marks the film&#8217;s 50th anniversary. In an interview, the son of the film&#8217;s producer, Gulshan Rai, shared some interesting facts, perhaps unknown to many. Rajiv, a writer, director, producer, and editor, revealed that he was in college when <em>Deewaar</em> was being made and that it is one of his favourite films.</p>



<p>He further stated, “I can watch this film repeatedly; its story and acting are both beautiful and superb. Although I wasn&#8217;t directly involved in the film nor did I contribute, I witnessed <em>Deewaar</em> cement its place in people&#8217;s hearts. I had complete faith in this story, which encapsulated the forward-thinking of that era, and believed it would be a success. I often told my father that the film would definitely be a hit.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Shooting Wrapped in 76 Shifts </h2>



<p>Speaking about his father, Gulshan Rai, Rajiv said, “Once he decided to make a film, he immediately gave the project the green light. <em>Deewaar</em> was no different; it was made within the stipulated budget. You&#8217;ll be surprised to know that without any delays, <em>Deewaar</em> was completed in just 76 shifts. This film is also known for being completed within the estimated timeframe.”</p>



<p>The film&#8217;s songs were as captivating as its story. Composed by the legendary R.D. Burman, songs like “Kah Doon Tumhen, Ya Chup Rahun” and “Maine Tujhe Maanga Tujhe Paaya Hai” were particularly popular. Rajiv explains, “After the film was completed, two songs were cut. I don&#8217;t know much about it; it was my father&#8217;s decision. The 3-hour 16-minute film was shortened to 3 hours and 6 minutes.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Script Completed in 38 Days </h2>



<p>The hit duo Salim-Javed penned the story, dialogues, and screenplay. The film&#8217;s story and dialogue were written in just 38 days. The reason behind writing the iconic dialogue, &#8220;Mera Baap Chor Hai&#8230;&#8221; on a child&#8217;s hand was explained by Javed Akhtar in an interview.  </p>

<p>The story revolves around a helpless mother who, after her husband&#8217;s sudden demise, works tirelessly to raise her two sons. The film depicts societal discrimination and financial hardship, creating a rift between the two brothers. One chooses a life of crime to earn money, while the other joins the police force, upholding the law.</p>



<p>The film starred legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Amjad Khan, Neetu Singh, Parveen Babi, and Nirupa Roy. Directed by Yash Chopra, this film was a blend of action, romance, and suspense. <em>Deewaar</em> was the highest-grossing film of that year, produced by Gulshan Rai under his production house, Trimurti Films.</p>

<p><strong>GST Rate on Car:</strong> Changes in the GST slab are set to reduce the prices of several popular cars. If you&#8217;re planning to buy a car now, hold off. From 22 September, when the new GST rates come into effect, car prices will decrease significantly. The GST Council has reduced the GST rate on most small and medium-sized cars from 28% to 18%. This represents a direct 10% reduction in the GST rate. However, luxury cars will attract a 40% tax. Even with this increase, the total tax on luxury cars will be lower than under the existing system.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Much Tax is Currently Levied on Cars?</h2>



<p>Currently, small petrol cars with an engine capacity of up to 1,200 cc and a length of less than 4 metres attract 28% GST and 1% cess. Small diesel cars with an engine capacity exceeding 1,500 cc and a length of less than 4 metres attract 28% GST and 3% cess, resulting in a total tax of 31%. Excluding electric vehicles, the GST rate on all cars is 28%, but the cess rate varies, leading to differences in the total tax. SUVs with an engine capacity exceeding 1,500 cc and a length greater than 4 metres currently attract a 50% tax, comprising 28% GST and 22% cess.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">These Cars Will See Price Reductions</h2>



<p><strong>Maruti Suzuki Alto K10</strong></p>



<p>This is one of India&#8217;s most affordable cars and a popular choice among 1.0-litre petrol engine hatchbacks. It&#8217;s widely used for both private and taxi services. The GST change will lower the Alto K10&#8217;s price. Its price is expected to drop from ₹4.23 lakh (ex-showroom) to approximately ₹3.81 lakh (ex-showroom).</p>



<p><strong>Tata Nexon</strong></p>



<p>One of India&#8217;s most popular and best-selling SUVs, the Tata Nexon&#8217;s base model could see a price reduction of approximately ₹80,000. This car will now attract 18% GST.</p>



<p><strong>Maruti Suzuki Swift and Dzire</strong></p>



<p>These two popular cars will now attract 18% GST instead of 28%. Their prices are expected to decrease by approximately ₹60,000.</p>



<p><strong>Tata Tiago</strong></p>



<p>Considered one of the country&#8217;s safest entry-level hatchbacks, it has received a 4-star safety rating from Global NCAP. Following the GST reduction, the starting price of the Tiago is expected to be ₹5.15 lakh (ex-showroom) instead of ₹5.65 lakh (ex-showroom).</p>



<p><strong>Hyundai Grand i10</strong></p>



<p>With the reduced GST rate, the price of this 1.2-litre engine small hatchback is expected to fall from ₹5.98 lakh (ex-showroom) to approximately ₹5.51 lakh (ex-showroom).</p>



<p><strong>Maruti Suzuki S-Presso</strong></p>



<p>The price of this affordable Maruti hatchback will also decrease. After the GST rate change, this car, currently priced at ₹4.26 lakh, could be available for ₹3.83 lakh.</p>



<p><strong>Renault Kwid</strong></p>



<p>The Renault Kwid, the only hatchback from this French company, could see a price reduction of approximately ₹40,000 following the GST rate changes.</p>



<p><strong>Hyundai Creta</strong></p>



<p>The Creta, one of India&#8217;s most popular SUVs, will now fall under the 40% GST bracket, compared to the previous 43% tax (28% GST and 15% cess). Its price will decrease, benefiting customers.</p>



<p><strong>Mahindra Scorpio</strong></p>



<p>Most variants of this SUV currently attract a 50% tax, comprising 28% GST and 22% cess. With the elimination of the cess, the Scorpio will now attract 40% GST. This will lead to a price reduction.</p>



<p><strong>Toyota Innova Crysta</strong></p>



<p>Similar to the Scorpio, the Toyota Innova Crysta attracted 28% GST and 22% cess, resulting in a total tax of 50%. This popular car will now attract 40% tax.</p>



<p><strong>Mahindra Thar</strong></p>



<p>This lifestyle SUV attracts a 45-50% tax. However, with the new GST regime, it will now attract 40% tax. This will result in lower prices.</p>

<p>A journalist posed a pointed question to US President Donald Trump regarding Russia and Vladimir Putin. The journalist asked Trump why no action had been taken against Russia. Trump, in response, retorted, &#8220;How do you know there&#8217;s been no action? Would you say that imposing secondary sanctions on India, the second-largest buyer after China, is not an action? Would you say there&#8217;s been no action?&#8221; He claimed that imposing tariffs on India had caused Moscow billions of dollars in losses. He also mentioned that work was underway on second and third-stage sanctions against Russia. &#8220;Find something else,&#8221; he added.</p>



<p>During a bilateral meeting with Polish President Karol Nawrocki in the Oval Office, President Trump stated that India had been given a clear warning that continuing to purchase oil from Russia would lead to problems. The US has imposed a 25% additional tariff on India due to its purchase of Russian oil, bringing the total US tariff on India to 50%.</p>



<p>When questioned about the chemistry between Putin, Kim Jong Un, and Xi Jinping during China&#8217;s Victory Day parade, Trump once again brought up India. Trump stated that the US had imposed tariffs on India for buying Russian oil and that they were considering other measures as well.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">India: The World&#8217;s Highest Tariff Imposer</h2>



<p>US President Donald Trump asserted that India was the world&#8217;s highest tariff-imposing nation, but that India had now proposed to not impose tariffs. However, Mohan Kumar, former Indian Ambassador to France and Director General of the Jadeja Motwani Institute for American Studies at OP Jindal Global University, refuted this claim by the Trump administration.</p>



<p>Mohan Kumar stated that the tariff war initiated by the US violated its commitments under World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements. He pointed out that India&#8217;s trade-weighted tariff is a &#8220;respectable 4.6 percent,&#8221; while the simple average tariff is approximately 16 percent. Kumar explained that India maintains high tariffs in the agricultural sector to protect the interests of its farmers. He added that no Indian government would reduce tariffs in the agricultural sector; it would be tantamount to suicide.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">No Compromise on Farmers&#8217; Interests</h2>



<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi also emphasized that domestic priorities would not be compromised under external pressure. PM Modi stated that while pressure might increase, it would be endured. The Indian government would not compromise the interests of farmers and livestock farmers.</p>

<p>This year&#8217;s monsoon season has witnessed heavy rainfall across India. The continuous monsoon rains have led to a significant drop in temperatures nationwide. Due to the heavy rainfall, dams, ponds, rivers, and lakes are overflowing. In the hill states, the rainfall has taken a severe turn, with incidents like cloud bursts being reported. Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir are facing widespread devastation due to floods. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for the coming days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heavy Rainfall Alert for 26 Districts in Rajasthan</h2>



<p>A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for 26 districts in Rajasthan. Considering the heavy rainfall, schools in Dausa district have been ordered to remain closed. The Meteorological Department stated that the monsoon trough is currently passing through Bikaner, Jaipur, Damoh, Pendra Road, and extending to the Bay of Bengal, while another trough line is passing over Haryana and Punjab. The department reported heavy rainfall in Jaipur, Tonk, and other districts on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a red alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in most parts of neighbouring Gujarat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Alert for 19 Districts in Bihar</h2>



<p>The Meteorological Department has stated that the monsoon is reactivating in Bihar. The department issued a heavy rainfall and thunderstorm alert for 19 districts, including Patna. The department warned of winds reaching speeds of 40 kilometres per hour. The continuous rainfall in Nepal has caused the Kosi river in Supaul to swell, leading to flood-like situations in several areas of the district.</p>

<p>The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of extremely heavy rainfall for 26 districts in Madhya Pradesh (MP). The department stated that the rainfall will continue for the next three days. Alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued for Bhopal, Guna, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Ujjain, Indore, Ratlam, Dhar, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, and Balaghat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Schools Closed in Himachal Pradesh</h2>



<p>Due to incessant rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, the administration has decided to keep schools closed until 7 September. An order issued on 3 September by the Education Department stated that all government and private colleges and schools (including DIETs) in the state will remain closed until 7 September 2025. The Meteorological Department predicted heavy rainfall in Kangra, Kullu, and Sirmaur. The monsoon rains have caused damage exceeding ₹1000 crore to the state, and over 150 people have died in rain-related accidents.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Floods Cause Havoc in Punjab</h2>



<p>Flood conditions persist in all 23 districts of Punjab. Over 35 people have died due to the floods, and more than 20,000 people have been rescued. The floods have damaged 175,286 hectares of crops. In Delhi, the Yamuna river has also crossed the danger mark.</p>


<p>IMD Alert: Monsoon rains are wreaking havoc across the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert, forecasting heavy rainfall until 7 September.</p>

<p><strong>Shikhar Dhawan Appears at ED Office:</strong> Following former Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina, former opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has also come under the Enforcement Directorate&#8217;s (ED) scanner. The ED has summoned Dhawan for questioning in a money laundering case linked to an illegal betting app. Dhawan arrived at the ED office around 11 am on Thursday, 4 September. The ED has previously questioned several cricketers and others in this case. When Suresh Raina was summoned by the ED, his statement was recorded over approximately eight hours.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Case Linked to Betting App 1xBet</h2>



<p>The ED will question cricketer Shikhar Dhawan and record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in a case related to a betting app called 1xBet. It is believed that Dhawan was associated with this app through some advertisements. The ED wants to ascertain the nature of his association with the app. It is known that the ED is investigating several cases of illegal betting apps accused of defrauding investors of crores of rupees and large-scale tax evasion.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Suresh Raina Questioned on the Same Matter</h2>



<p>Recently, the Enforcement Directorate also questioned former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina about his connection with the app, his earnings from promotions, and the communication channels between the two parties. His statement was recorded after the questioning. Following this, the ED also questioned representatives from Google and Meta in this case.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Real-Money Online Gaming Apps Now Illegal in India</h2>



<p>Recently, the central government passed a law banning real-money online gaming to prevent the promotion of such apps. Following this law, such online gaming apps have become illegal. Because of this, the BCCI has also terminated its contract with the Dream11 app. The BCCI is now looking for a new sponsor.</p>

<p>Torrential rains lashing Pakistan since the end of June have caused widespread devastation. These monsoon rains have claimed the lives of 883 people so far, with 1,200 injured. According to Pakistani media reports, two more children died in rain-related incidents late Wednesday night. One death occurred in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), and the other in Islamabad.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Next 12 to 24 hours critical for Pakistan</h2>



<p>The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that the ongoing heavy rains in mountainous regions could cause urban flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a warning on Wednesday for potential heavy rainfall in several areas of Pakistan over the next 12 to 24 hours. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab provinces have been the hardest hit by the rains. KP has reported 488 deaths and 360 injuries.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">172 deaths reported</h2>



<p>According to the Pakistani newspaper <em>The Tribune</em>, 58 deaths were confirmed in Sindh, 41 in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB), 38 in PoK, 26 in Balochistan, and 9 in Islamabad on Wednesday. The PMD warned that flood levels in the Sutlej River in Punjab&#8217;s Ganda Singh Wala area will remain exceptionally high, while a new flood in the Chenab River may reach downstream from Marala in Punjab.</p>



<p>The PMD stated that the water level in the Panjnad River (where the Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers meet) is expected to rise between 4 and 5 September, posing a serious threat to thousands of acres of farmland and hundreds of villages. In Guddu, Sindh province, the Indus River is also expected to reach dangerous levels by 6 or 7 September. PMD officials have issued rain warnings for Punjab, KP, PoGB, and PoK.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">High risk of landslides</h2>



<p>Scattered rainfall is expected in various areas of KP, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Buner, and Abbottabad. Authorities have warned of flooding in low-lying areas, along with the risk of overflowing rivers and landslides in mountainous regions. According to the PDMA, flooding from the Chenab River has submerged 261 villages in Jhang and at least 24 villages in Muzaffargarh, Punjab. The torrential floodwaters have also destroyed over 9,200 houses, including 4,700 in KP and 2,100 in PoK. Over 6,000 livestock have been swept away. This disaster has damaged approximately 240 bridges and over 670 kilometres of roads across Pakistan.</p>
