
<p><strong>Jaipur News:</strong> On Tuesday, Punjab Police took the accused involved in a plot to carry out blasts in Delhi and Gwalior by Independence Day to the Behram area of Punjab to recover weapons. All the accused were arrested on Sunday by Rajasthan&#8217;s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) from Jaipur and Niwai in Tonk. On Tuesday morning, Sonu alias Kali Chir, one of the accused in the grenade blast in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district, pointed a pistol at the Punjab Police. In retaliation, police shot the accused in the leg. The injured Sonu was admitted to hospital.</p>



<p>Following this, a grenade, pistol and magazine were recovered on Sonu&#8217;s indication. According to the Punjab Police, the six arrested accused, including three minors, were in contact with the Pakistan-based ISI-backed terrorist organisation, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bribery for Blasts</h2>



<p>Zeeshan Akhtar, a handler based in Canada, had promised the accused ₹5.5 lakh for carrying out grenade blasts in Punjab. After the incident, the money was not paid, and it was stated that for carrying out blasts in Delhi and Gwalior, a further ₹5.5 lakh would be transferred to each account, totalling ₹10.10 lakh.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rajasthan AGTF Team in Punjab; Further Investigation in Rajasthan</h2>



<p>A team led by Inspector Ram Singh of the Rajasthan AGTF arrived in Punjab on Tuesday. No case was registered against the accused arrested in Jaipur and Niwai in Rajasthan, but the team is now gathering information about their contacts in Rajasthan. Meanwhile, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav has posted about the entire matter on social media platform X, mentioning the Rajasthan Police&#8217;s involvement.</p>

<p>Heavy rainfall continues in Maharashtra for the fifth consecutive day, causing significant hardship for the general public. While the intensity of rain has reduced somewhat in Mumbai today, intermittent heavy showers are still hindering daily activities. The torrential downpour of the past two days caused severe waterlogging, making life difficult for people in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and several other districts of the state.</p>



<p>The heavy rain in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, on Monday and Tuesday completely disrupted daily life. Mumbai recorded record rainfall in the past 24 hours. Vikroli recorded 223.5 mm, Santacruz 206.6 mm, Bhaykhala 184.0 mm, Juhu 148.5 mm, Bandra 132.5 mm, and Colaba 100.2 mm of rainfall. The Meteorological Department issued a warning of heavy rainfall in Mumbai and the entire Konkan region today, while a red alert has been issued for Ratnagiri district.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lonavala receives 418 mm rainfall in 24 hours</h2>



<p>Mumbai and its suburban areas have been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past several days. Similarly, the Ghat regions of Maharashtra have received torrential rain. A situation akin to landslides has developed in the Ghat areas of Pune, Nashik, Satara, and Kolhapur. In the 24 hours to Tuesday, Tamhini Ghat recorded 575 mm, Bhira 568 mm, Shirgaon 430 mm, Davdi 419 mm, Lonavala 418 mm, Matheran 438 mm, and Khandala 412 mm of rainfall. However, the administration is making every effort to ensure that the general public does not face any difficulties.</p>



<p>The Meteorological Department has predicted that heavy rainfall will continue in Maharashtra until 21 August. According to the IMD, widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over Konkan and adjoining Ghat areas of central Maharashtra until 21 August.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mumbai administration on alert</h2>



<p>The Meteorological Department has issued an ‘orange’ alert, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai Metropolitan Region on Wednesday. However, as of 10 am, there are no reports of major waterlogging or other problems due to the rain. Central Railway, Western Railway, Harbour Railway, and ‘BEST’ bus services are operating smoothly. Mumbai Police, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), and other emergency services are monitoring the situation.</p>

<p><strong>Earthquake:</strong> Tremors were felt this morning in Himachal Pradesh, India, and neighbouring Pakistan, causing widespread panic. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS) and the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the earthquake measured 4.0 and 3.3 on the Richter scale in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, and 3.7 in Pakistan, respectively.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tremors felt in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh</h2>



<p>The first tremor in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, was felt at 3:27 AM, and the second at 4:39 AM. In Pakistan, the epicentre was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, where a 3.7 magnitude tremor struck at 2:38 AM. People in cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, and Abbottabad felt the tremors and rushed out of their homes in panic.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">National Center for Seismology provides information</h2>



<p>According to the National Center for Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake in Pakistan was 190 kilometers below the Earth&#8217;s surface, while in Chamba, it was 10 kilometers deep. Experts say that Himachal Pradesh and the Hindu Kush region are susceptible to earthquakes due to their location on the boundary of tectonic plates.</p>

Jaishankar will also address a meeting of the India-Russia Business Forum in Moscow. During his meeting with Lavrov, Jaishankar will review India-Russia bilateral relations, discuss regional and global issues, and explore ways to further strengthen the India-Russia special strategic partnership.</p>

<p>Amidst US President Donald Trump&#8217;s &#8216;tariff war&#8217;, India&#8217;s friendship with Russia is deepening. A few days ago, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also visited Russia and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During Doval&#8217;s visit, an agreement was reached for Putin&#8217;s visit to India. </p>



<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Putin have spoken twice on the phone this month. Putin even briefed PM Modi after his meeting with Trump. Solar Panel Scam in Rajasthan: ₹456 Crore Tender Fraud


<p><strong>Jaipur:</strong> A major alleged scam has come to light in Rajasthan involving a ₹456 crore tender for installing solar panels on government buildings. The company awarded the contract allegedly submitted a fraudulent bank guarantee of ₹60 crore.</p>



<p>The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RREC) released ₹46 crore in advance against this guarantee to commence the work. The matter came to light after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) intervened. The RREC has issued a notice to the company and is preparing to blacklist it and file an FIR.</p>



<p>The corporation awarded the contract to the firm Tiriy Nopicon under the Hem Model. All officials associated with this project are under suspicion. The company was given the contract for a 100-megawatt rooftop solar project in March-April this year.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Corporation Sends Team to Kolkata</h2>



<p>After the bank admitted the involvement of its employees, the RREC sent a team to Kolkata. Upon inquiring with the relevant bank management, the bank guarantee was found to be fraudulent. The company has also filed an FIR in another related matter. Meanwhile, the RREC believes that this could not have been the work of a single bank employee and that there was collusion with company employees.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How the Scam Unfolded</h2>



<p>The company that won the contract could deposit 10 percent of the project cost as a bank guarantee and receive an equivalent advance. Sources say that the RREC initially confirmed the guarantee via email from the bank. However, the CBI subsequently requested documents related to the company from the RREC. Further investigation prompted the RREC to seek written confirmation from the bank, which revealed that no such bank guarantee had been issued.</p>

<p>The Indian Air Force (IAF) has been grappling with a shortage of fighter jets for the past few years. While the IAF requires a total of 42 squadrons, it currently operates only 29, many of which are older generation fighter jets. This has prompted the IAF to expedite efforts to bolster its strength to effectively counter threats on two fronts simultaneously. In a significant move, the Modi government has approved a ₹62,000 crore project to procure 97 Light Combat Aircraft Mark 1A (LCA Mark 1A) fighter jets for the IAF.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">HCL Receives Order</h2>



<p>According to news agency ANI, the approval for the fighter jet purchase was granted following a high-level meeting. This paves the way for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to commence production. Under the Modi government&#8217;s &#8216;Make in India&#8217; initiative, HAL has received large-scale orders from the Air Force. These orders encompass various indigenous fighter aircraft, helicopters, and their engines. This will be the second order for LCA Mark 1A fighter jets for HAL; the government previously ordered 83 aircraft, with a target completion date of 2028.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Light Combat Aircraft Mark 1A: An Advanced Version of Tejas</h2>



<p>The Light Combat Aircraft Mark 1A is an advanced version of the Tejas, featuring new and upgraded avionics and radar systems. Over 60% of the LCA Mark-1A is indigenously manufactured. Similar to the Tejas, it is a single-engine light combat aircraft. HAL has stated that they will soon begin delivering Tejas aircraft to the Indian Air Force. The LCA Mark 1A is expected to replace the MiG-21, MiG-23, and MiG-27. Notably, the MiG-21 fighter jet, after 62 years of service with the IAF, is being retired on September 19th.</p>

<p>A horrific road accident occurred on Tuesday near Pimpalgaon village on the Chiplun-Karad highway in Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra. Five people died on the spot in the accident. A speeding Thar car collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw with such force that the rickshaw was destroyed. Four people in the rickshaw died, along with the driver of the Thar car.</p>



<p>According to eyewitnesses, the Haryana-registered Thar car was travelling at a high speed and the driver suddenly lost control, resulting in the collision with the oncoming auto-rickshaw. The Thar car also subsequently collided with a truck. All five deceased were men, four of whom are reported to be from the Pimpalgaon Nurani neighbourhood. Among the deceased is a two-and-a-half-year-old child.</p>



<p>Upon receiving information about the incident, the DySP and Police Inspector of Chiplun, along with their team, arrived at the scene. The police conducted a panchnama (official inspection of the accident site) and sent the bodies of the deceased to Chiplun Rural Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered, and an investigation has been launched.</p>



<p>The police are currently investigating whether the Thar driver was under the influence of alcohol and the exact cause of the accident. Traffic on the highway was disrupted for some time following the accident. The sudden death of four people from the same area has cast a pall of gloom over Pimpalgaon. The entire village is mourning and expressing condolences to the bereaved families.</p>

<p><strong>Himachal Pradesh Landslide:</strong> The series of cloudbursts in Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh, shows no sign of abating. Recent incidents on 13 and 19 August 2025 have caused widespread devastation in the district. Cloudbursts in areas such as Banjar, Ani-Nirmand, Sainj Valley, and Lahaul Valley led to flash floods in rivers and streams, severely impacting homes, shops, crops, and roads.</p>

<p>On 13 August, cloudbursts in Batahar and Shri Khand Mahadev Bhimdwari areas of Banjar and Ani-Nirmand sub-divisions triggered a surge of debris and water in the Tirthan Valley and surrounding areas. Several villages were evacuated, and people were moved to safer locations. Flooding in the Jiwa nallah in Sainj Valley swept away several vehicles, while a police outpost was washed away in the Ganvi Valley.</p>

<p>On 19 August, a cloudburst in Kullu&#8217;s Lahaul Valley damaged roads, bridges, and shops. Heavy rains led to the closure of 389 roads, including two national highways, severely impacting the region&#8217;s connectivity. Crops and fields have also suffered significant damage.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Administration Engaged in Relief Efforts</h2>



<p>The district administration immediately launched relief and rescue operations. NDRF and local teams are active in the affected areas, and people are being moved to safer locations. Additional Deputy Commissioner Ashwani Kumar stated that the administration is monitoring the situation and providing all possible assistance to the affected people.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Weather Department Alert</h2>



<p>The meteorological department has issued yellow and orange alerts for heavy rainfall in Kullu, Shimla, and other districts. Experts say that cloudburst incidents are increasing due to climate change, deforestation, and uncontrolled construction. Eight major devastating events have been witnessed in the last nine years, a matter of serious concern.</p>


<p>Roads, bridges, and shops have been damaged due to a cloudburst in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Heavy rains have led to the closure of 389 roads, including two national highways.</p>

<p>The Patna-Purnea Expressway, one of Bihar&#8217;s most ambitious road projects, has been officially designated a national expressway by the central government. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) issued a notification declaring the expressway as National Expressway-9 (NE-9). This will be Bihar&#8217;s first expressway entirely within the state&#8217;s boundaries.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Patna-Purnia Expressway: A Game Changer</h2>



<p>Expressing gratitude to the central government, Bihar&#8217;s Minister of Road Construction, Nitin Nabin, stated: “The notification of the Patna-Purnia Expressway as National Expressway-9 is a moment of pride for Bihar. Since the project&#8217;s announcement, work has been progressing rapidly, and the state government is providing, and will continue to provide, all necessary support to the central government for its timely completion.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Patna to Purnia in Just 3 Hours</h2>



<p>He further added: “This project will give a new direction to the state&#8217;s road infrastructure. Once operational, the journey from Patna to Purnia will be completed in just 3 hours, giving a new impetus to the socio-economic development of the Seemanchal region. The national expressway status is undoubtedly a historic achievement for Bihar.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Benefiting Numerous Regions</h2>



<p>The 250-kilometre-long expressway will commence at Miranagar Arezi (Hajipur) on NH-22 and pass through Narharpur, Harlochanpur, Bazidpur, Sarounja, Rasna, Parora, and Fatehpur, connecting to NH-27 (East-West Corridor) at Hansdaha in Purnea district. The project will include 21 major bridges, 140 minor bridges, 11 railway overbridges, 21 interchanges, and 322 underpasses. Separate link roads will also be constructed to connect the district headquarters of Samastipur, Saharsa, and Madhepura. Land acquisition is progressing rapidly across more than 250 villages in 29 blocks across 6 districts for the project. Construction will commence upon completion of land acquisition.</p>

<p>Interspersed with Ayushmann and Rashmika&#8217;s love story are scenes filled with horror and thrills. Strange events unfold in the forest. Ayushmann is seen battling animals and dangerous forces.</p>



<p>The approximately 109-second-long teaser features several spine-chilling scenes. It also includes a glimpse of Malaika Arora&#8217;s dance. Faisal Malik also plays a significant role. Veteran actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal also appear in the film.</p>

<p>The teaser clearly indicates a potent blend of romance, horror, action, and thrills. The film is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. Maddock Films has touted it as its first horror love story. Sharing the teaser on Instagram, they wrote, &#8216;Never was fear so powerful, and never was love so dangerous.&#8217;</p>
