
<p>Following the Pahalgam attack, India has conducted air strikes on nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Following this, a high alert has been issued in all border areas of Rajasthan. Air India has cancelled all flights to and from Jodhpur until 12 noon. The administration has also declared a holiday for government and private schools in Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar, with exams scheduled for today also cancelled. Government employees have been instructed not to leave their headquarters.</p>



<p>Meanwhile, District Collector Tina Dabi stated that all government and private schools in the district have been declared closed for the day (Wednesday) due to national security concerns. Exams scheduled for today have also been postponed.</p>

<p>Following the air strikes on terrorist bases in Pakistan, the BSF, the first line of defence in Barmer, has been put on high alert. Local authorities are vigilant regarding internal security and have appealed to the public to remain calm. The Indian Air Force destroyed a Jaish-e-Mohammed hideout in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, 100 kilometres from Khajuwala and Anupgarh, by launching missiles. This has led to an alert due to the possibility of retaliatory action.</p>

<p>Following news of the air strikes, celebrations broke out early in the morning. Hundreds of young people burst firecrackers in the main square of the city. Slogans of &#8220;Bharat Mata Ki Jai&#8230; Pakistan Murdabad&#8221; were raised. It should be noted that the Indian Air Force conducted air strikes on nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK under &#8216;Operation Sindur&#8217;. This has been confirmed by the Pakistani army itself.</p>

<p><strong>Operation Sindoor:</strong> Following India&#8217;s missile strikes on terrorist bases under ‘Operation Sindoor’, Pakistan, in a fit of rage, attempted a retaliatory action on Thursday night. The Pakistani army attempted to attack border areas in Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan using drones and missiles, but all attempts were thwarted due to the alertness of the Indian army.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">50 Pakistani Drones Destroyed</h2>



<p>According to sources, Pakistan sent drones to sensitive areas like Jammu, Samba, Baramulla, Kupwara, Udhampur, Pathankot, and Jaisalmer. However, in a large-scale counter-drone operation conducted by Indian Army air defence units, more than 50 drones were neutralised. This operation extensively used L-70 guns, ZU-23 mm guns, Shilka systems, and modern counter-UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) equipment.</p>

<p>One woman was killed and another injured in cross-border firing in the Uri area of Baramulla district, Kashmir. A vehicle travelling from Razrwani to Baramulla came under fire near Mohura. Nargis Begum was killed in the incident. Hafiza, wife of Rajik Ahmad Khan, was injured and immediately taken to GMC Baramulla for treatment.</p>

<p>India intercepts Pakistani missiles and drones: Tensions between India and Pakistan have reached a new high. On Thursday night, Pakistan attempted missile and drone attacks on Kupwara, Jammu, and Samba sectors, but the Indian defence system swiftly neutralised all threats. Defence sources revealed that India&#8217;s state-of-the-art S-400 air defence system (India S-400 intercept) shot down eight missiles launched by Pakistan. The Indian Air Force shot down a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet in an air interception operation near the Line of Control (LoC). This action demonstrated the effective combined capability of the S-400 and other air defence systems.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Indian fighter jets scramble from Jammu Airport </h2>



<p>According to defence sources, amidst the India-Pakistan tension, the Indian Air Force immediately tasked fighter jets from Jammu Airport to respond to the escalating drone and missile threats from Pakistan. Earlier, Pakistani drones were shot down near Kupwara, Jammu University, and the Samba area, while the S-400 intercepted eight missiles.</p>

<p>Defence sources stated that amidst drone attacks in Jammu, Akhnoor, RS Pura, Arnia, and Samba, the army shot down two drones near Jammu University. With India-Pakistan tensions rising, Pakistan&#8217;s attempts at drone attacks in border areas have intensified. Several drone activities were recorded last night in Jammu, Akhnoor, RS Pura, Arnia, and Samba. The Indian Army and security forces, displaying alertness, shot down three suspected Pakistani drones near Jammu University.</p>

<p>Reports suggest that the sound of falling drones caused panic in the area. The bomb squad and NIA team are investigating the site. Initial reports suggest that the drones may have contained explosives or sensitive devices. These incidents are believed to be retaliatory attempts by Pakistan in response to Operation Sindur.</p>

The situation is changing day by day. We will do whatever we are told and will inform all stakeholders. For now, our priority is the safety of all players, fans, and stakeholders.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">IPL Match Suddenly Cancelled</h2>



<p>The report states that the decision to cancel the match in Dharamsala was taken by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) following a phone call from a senior cricket official. Security protocols were immediately implemented.</p>



<p>Upon receiving the information, the stadium’s lights were switched off, plunging the ground into darkness. Spectators were then urged to leave. IPL president Arun Dhumal was seen directing spectators near the boundary line to exit the stadium. Both teams’ players were immediately instructed to board their respective buses and return to their team hotels.</p>

<p><strong>Bikaner News:</strong> Amidst the India-Pakistan dispute, Bikaner District Collector Namrata Vrishni has taken a significant decision. <p>Bikaner District Collector Namrata Vrishni stated in the order that using the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Citizen Protection Code 2023, restrictions have been imposed across all urban and rural areas of the Bikaner district. According to the order, flying UAVs, drone cameras, hot air balloons, etc., will be prohibited. This prohibition will not apply to the operation of strategically important activities by the central government&#8217;s military or paramilitary forces and the state government&#8217;s police department.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ban on the purchase, sale, and use of firecrackers and fireworks</h2>



<p>Similarly, District Collector Namrata Vrishni has banned the purchase, sale, and use of all types of firecrackers and fireworks. This order will be applicable to the entire Bikaner district. Violation of the order will be punishable under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code 2023. This order will come into effect immediately and will remain in force for two months.</p>

<p>Madhya Pradesh High Court delivers major ruling on teacher recruitment – The court has issued an interim order, raising the possibility of a special examination. The Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur issued this interim order regarding the alleged neglect of guest teachers in the teacher recruitment process. Some petitions claim that discrepancies in the experience certificates of guest teachers in the 2023-24 teacher recruitment led to many eligible teachers being excluded.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Special Examination if Petitions are Accepted</h2>



<p>A single bench of Justice Sanjay Dwivedi of the Jabalpur High Court issued the interim order. The court stated that the results of the teacher selection process will be subject to the court&#8217;s final decision on the petitions. If the petitions are accepted, the education department will have to conduct a special examination and consider the cases of the petitioners.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Issue of Experience Certificates</h2>



<p>Priti Tripathi and 13 others from Jabalpur challenged the teacher recruitment process in a petition filed with the Jabalpur High Court.<br>The petition states that for the first time in the 2023-24 teacher recruitment, the Employee Selection Board made experience certificates of guest teachers a mandatory document in the application. However, officers from the districts failed to provide them in the prescribed format. This resulted in a large number of eligible teachers being deprived.</p>

Uttarkashi Helicopter Crash Kills Five


<p>News has emerged of a helicopter crash in Uttarkashi. The helicopter belonged to a private company, Aero Trink, and was carrying seven people. According to reports, five people have died in the accident, while two are reported injured. Police, administration, and disaster management teams have launched a rescue operation at the site, and a search is underway for the remaining passengers.</p>

<p>Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed the accident, which occurred near Ganganani in the border district of Uttarkashi. Pandey stated that as soon as the authorities received news of the accident, relief and rescue teams were dispatched to the site. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that SDRF and district administration teams have reached the site for relief and rescue operations. He added, “I have instructed the administration to provide all possible assistance to the injured and to investigate the accident.”</p>

<p><strong>Deepak Sharma</strong><br>Sri Ganganagar. Following India&#8217;s surgical strikes on terrorist bases in Pakistan, soldiers are on high alert along the border. The Border Security Force (BSF) has sealed approximately 200 km of border in Sri Ganganagar district, from Rawalammandi and Suratgarh to Hindumalkoat. Soldiers are vigilantly monitoring the border fence in shifts.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Increased Security on the Border</h2>



<p>According to BSF sources, Pakistan had deployed its troops a few days earlier. Pakistan has constructed an earthen embankment well behind the zero line, making it difficult to observe activities on the other side. In response, the BSF has increased the number of personnel at border outposts. The number of night checkpoints has also been increased. Officers from sector and battalion headquarters are also regularly patrolling the border.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">No Anxiety Among Villagers</h2>



<p>Considering the tension, villagers near the border have been prevented from accessing their fields beyond the fence, but there is no anxiety among the villagers. Villagers from Lakhakam, Khataan, 33 PS, 36 PS, 40 PS, and other villages bordering Pakistan, stated that they will cooperate with the security forces under all circumstances. These villages witnessed the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars.</p>



<p>Meanwhile, a team comprising the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, and CMHO is on high alert along the border, anticipating a possible retaliatory attack following the air strikes. Police are patrolling border villages. City residents expressed happiness over the surgical strikes and pledged their support for the nation&#8217;s decision. A mock drill was observed and understood during the day. In the evening, as soon as the sirens sounded, vehicles on the roads stopped and pulled over to the side.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Appeal to Ignore Rumours</h2>



<p>On Wednesday, an Anupgarh police team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Prashant Kaushik and Station House Officer Ishwar Prasad Jangid, visited border villages. The police interacted with the villagers, briefed them about the current situation, and strictly warned them against rumours. They emphasised the need for vigilance but stressed that there was no need for panic.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Instructions Given to Villagers</h2>



<p>The police team appealed to the villagers to immediately report any suspicious individuals, activities, or vehicles to the nearest police station or helpline. They were also urged not to spread or share any false information on social media. DSP Kaushik stated that strict action would be taken against those spreading rumours. The Station House Officer informed that police patrols have been intensified in border villages due to their sensitivity.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Full Cooperation from Villagers</h2>



<p>Upon the arrival of police officers in the villages, the villagers welcomed the administration and assured their cooperation in all circumstances. In many places, villagers volunteered to monitor and report any suspicious activity. DSP Kaushik stated that the Anupgarh area is completely calm and normal life continues. People are urged to maintain peace and not be misled by any unverified information.</p>


<p>A team comprising the Superintendent of Police, the Chief Medical Officer (CMHO), and others is on high alert at the border, anticipating a possible retaliatory attack following the airstrike.</p>

<p><strong>Rohit Sharma Retirement:</strong> Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has surprised everyone by announcing his sudden retirement from Test cricket. </p>



<p>The decision comes ahead of Team India’s five-Test tour of England right after IPL 2025. Rohit&#8217;s decision is not only a major blow for cricket fans but also a cause for concern for the team management, as they will now have to appoint a new Test captain soon.</p>



<p>The team has vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah as a potential candidate for the Test captaincy. However, according to some media reports, the selectors are hesitant to appoint Bumrah due to fitness concerns and workload management. They prefer a younger player who will be available for all matches in the series. Two contenders are being considered.</p>



<p>Reports suggest that the selectors want to give this responsibility to young batsman Shubman Gill. Gill is currently the vice-captain of the ODI team and has consistently emerged as a rising star in Indian cricket. According to reports, it is not feasible to play Jasprit Bumrah in all five matches of the England Test series. The BCCI may rest him in some matches, keeping workload management in mind. Therefore, it is essential for the team to choose a captain who can play the entire series.</p>



<p>Gill bats at number three in the Test team. His record across all three formats is also good. Playing for India in the longest format, Gill has scored 1893 runs at an average of 35.05 in 32 matches, including five centuries and seven half-centuries. Another reason behind considering Gill as captain is his fitness. He is one of India&#8217;s fittest players and has rarely missed a match.</p>



<p>Besides Gill, the team management could also entrust the captaincy to KL Rahul (केएल राहुल). Although Rahul has captained the Test team before, his record as captain has not been particularly impressive so far. He has captained India in three Test matches, winning two. He took over the captaincy in the absence of Virat Kohli during the second Test of the South Africa tour in 2021-22. He also led the Indian team on the Bangladesh tour.</p>



<p>Recently, Rahul has regained his form in Test cricket and played some crucial innings in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. If the 33-year-old batsman is given the captaincy again, it will further boost his confidence. Rahul has also previously captained Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL.</p>


<p>Team India will play a five-match Test series on their tour of England. This will also mark the beginning of India&#8217;s campaign in the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. </p>

<p>The film features Rajkummar Rao as a groom who gets trapped in a time loop just before his wedding. Every day he wakes up at his own Haldi ceremony and is surprised that his wedding day never arrives. Wamiqa Gabbi plays the bride, ‘Titli’, in the film. The film is directed by Karan Sharma.</p>
