
<p>Parts of India are experiencing heavy rainfall, while others are grappling with soaring temperatures due to a lack of rain. The monsoon has arrived in some states, while others are expecting its arrival soon. Northwestern states are yet to receive monsoon rains, leading to intense heat. Conversely, several parts of Northeast India are experiencing heavy rainfall, resulting in floods. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert, predicting heavy rainfall in several states over the next seven days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">States to Experience Heavy Rainfall</h2>



<p><strong>◙</strong> According to the meteorological department, heavy rainfall is likely in Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, coastal Karnataka, south interior Karnataka, north interior Karnataka, coastal Karnataka, Puducherry, and Karaikal between 14-20 June. Wind speeds of 40-50 km/h are also anticipated during this period.</p>



<p><strong>◙</strong> Heavy rainfall is expected in several areas of Marathwada, Saurashtra, Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, and Gujarat between 14-17 June.</p>



<p><strong>◙</strong> Heavy rainfall is likely in Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha between 15-19 June. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Bihar on 19 June.</p>



<p><strong>◙</strong> Heavy rainfall is likely in several areas of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand between 14-19 June. Dust storms/thunderstorms are also possible, with wind speeds potentially reaching 70 km/h from an initial 50-60 km/h.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">States to Experience Light/Moderate Rainfall</h2>



<p><strong>◙</strong> The meteorological department predicts light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in parts of central Maharashtra and Gujarat on 14-15 June.</p>



<p><strong>◙</strong> Light/moderate rainfall is expected to continue at several locations in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim over the next seven days.</p>



<p><strong>◙</strong> Light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and strong winds (40-50 km/h) is likely in some areas of Madhya Pradesh between 14-17 June.</p>



<p><strong>◙</strong> Light/moderate rainfall is also expected in east Madhya Pradesh on 16 and 17 June.</p>

<p>According to the meteorological department, winds of 40-50 km/h are expected in several parts of Rajasthan for the next six days. Cloudy conditions and light rainfall are also anticipated. Some relief from the heat is expected across Rajasthan over the next six days.</p>

<p>Israel and Iran have engaged in a series of attacks against each other, marking the beginning of a full-blown conflict. Neither country appears willing to back down. Early Friday morning, 13 June, the Israeli military launched airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites, causing widespread disruption. In response, Iran fired over 100 drones at Israel, all of which were shot down by the Israeli Air Force. Later that night, Israel conducted further airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Iran retaliated with ballistic missiles, leading to intense fighting late into the night. Israel named its military operation ‘Operation Rising Lion’, while Iran called its counter-offensive ‘True Promise Three’.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">78 Killed in Iran</h2>



<p>Israeli airstrikes resulted in the deaths of 78 people in Iran. Among the casualties were senior Iranian military commanders and Iranian nuclear scientists. Iran&#8217;s state media confirmed these reports.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">320 Injured</h2>



<p>Iranian state media also confirmed that 320 people were injured as a result of the Israeli airstrikes. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.</p>

<p><strong>Chances of rain in 33 districts:</strong> May and June are typically known for heat waves and intense heat. During this time, temperatures rise rapidly, and north-westerly winds dry out the atmosphere. However, this time, there are persistent easterly winds carrying moisture from the Bay of Bengal. This has not only increased humidity but also pushed the heat index to record levels.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">14 June: Possibility of thunderstorms and rain in several districts</h2>



<p>Amidst the scorching heat in Uttar Pradesh, there is some welcome news. According to the Meteorological Department, thunderstorms and rain are likely in the districts of Moradabad, Amroha, Sambhal, Bijnor, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Rampur, Budaun, Sambhal, Etawah, Aligarh, and Hathras on 14 June. Strong winds with speeds of 30-40 km/h are also expected during this period.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">15 June onwards: Indications of weather change across the state</h2>



<p>From 15 June onwards, gusty winds, drizzle, and strong winds may begin in western and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Light rain and thunderstorms are predicted in approximately 33 districts, including Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Ballia, Basti, Siddharthnagar, and Deoria. This is expected to lead to a drop in temperature.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lucknow: Temperature crosses 42 degrees, signs of relief</h2>



<p>In Lucknow, the capital city, strong winds on Friday provided some respite from the heat, although the heat index remained high due to humidity. The maximum temperature on Friday was recorded at 41.9 degrees and the minimum at 30.5 degrees, significantly higher than normal. On Saturday, the temperature is likely to remain around 41 degrees amidst cloudy conditions.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kanpur: Heat index reaches 64, situation in the red zone</h2>



<p>In Kanpur, the moisture from the Bay of Bengal has exacerbated the heat. Due to persistent easterly winds and high temperatures, the heat index reached 64 on Friday. The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for Saturday. If the clouds don&#8217;t bring rain, the chances of relief are low.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Jhansi, Prayagraj, Hamirpur: Night temperatures remain a challenge</h2>



<p>Nights remain restless in the southern districts of the state. Night temperatures above 32 degrees Celsius were recorded in Jhansi, Hamirpur, and Mathura. The night temperature at Kanpur Air Force Station was 32.4 degrees, the highest for this season.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Humidity increases discomfort, record-breaking humidity levels along with temperature</h2>



<p>Not only is the temperature high, but the humidity levels are also record-breaking. Maximum humidity was recorded at 63% and minimum at 38%, making the humid heat even more oppressive.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Alert for thunderstorms and rain until 17 June</h2>



<p>The IMD has issued an alert for thunderstorms and rain until 17 June. According to meteorologists, there is currently no major weather system active to provide widespread relief. However, the movement of a western disturbance has begun, increasing the likelihood of rain after 17 June.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Moradabad: Relief from cloudy conditions and rain</h2>



<p>In Moradabad, cloudy conditions and light rain on Friday provided some relief from the heat. 4.2 mm of rainfall was recorded, and the maximum temperature was 38.4 degrees. The presence of clouds and strong winds on Thursday and Friday brought some coolness to the atmosphere. However, the night temperature was 29.2 degrees, 3.2 degrees above normal.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cloudy conditions for the next three days</h2>



<p>According to the Meteorological Department, cloudy conditions will prevail for the next three days, with intermittent light drizzle. If a low-pressure area forms in the Bay of Bengal, the thunderstorm activity may intensify, and relief from the heat may be experienced.</p>


<p>UP Rain: Relief is in sight for Uttar Pradesh amidst the scorching heat and heatwave. The meteorological department has issued an alert for thunderstorms, rain, and strong winds in several districts of the state from 14 to 17 June.</p>

<p><strong>Sunjay Kapur Death:</strong> Sunjay Kapur, besides being a businessman, was also Bollywood&#8217;s son-in-law. He married Karisma Kapoor in 2003, but the couple separated soon after and divorced in 2016. He died on June 13th during a polo match after suffering a heart attack. Reports suggest that this happened after a bee accidentally flew into his mouth and stung him, causing him to suffocate and struggle to breathe.</p>

<p>Sunjay Kapur, after divorcing Karisma Kapoor, married model and actress Priya Sachdev in 2017. Groundbreaking Trojan Horse Therapy for Blood Cancer


<p>A major breakthrough in cancer treatment offers hope for thousands of patients. England&#8217;s NHS (National Health Service) has introduced a novel therapy called the “Trojan Horse” therapy, a world-first treatment specifically for myeloma, a type of blood cancer. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Blood Cancer Therapy – Why is this therapy so special?</h2>



<p>Myeloma is a cancer affecting plasma cells (cells that are part of our immune system) found in the spongy bone marrow within our bones. The therapy, formally known as belantamab mafodotin, is called a “Trojan Horse” because it operates similarly to the Greek myth&#8217;s Trojan Horse. Just as soldiers hid inside the Trojan Horse to infiltrate the city, this drug stealthily delivers a toxic payload directly into cancer cells.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How does this “smart drug” work? (Trojan Horse Cancer Drug)</h2>



<p>This therapy is a highly advanced form of chemotherapy. A potent chemotherapy drug is attached to an antibody. Antibodies are like soldiers fighting infections in our bodies. However, the antibodies used in this therapy are specifically designed to recognise markers present only on cancerous plasma cells.</p>



<p>These antibodies directly target cancerous cells, bind to their surface, and are then absorbed by the cancer cells. Once inside, the antibodies release their toxic payload, killing the cancer cells.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What are its benefits?</h2>



<p><strong>Longer Relief:</strong> This therapy can suppress myeloma for approximately three times longer than existing treatments. Clinical trials have shown it can delay cancer progression for three years instead of 13 months.</p>



<p><strong>Reduced Side Effects:</strong> It&#8217;s superior to standard chemotherapy because it directly targets cancer cells, causing less damage to other parts of the body. This results in fewer side effects. However, some residual chemotherapy drug may spread after cancer cell elimination, potentially causing side effects like eye dryness and blurred vision.</p>



<p><strong>Improved Quality of Life:</strong> This therapy allows patients to live a normal life free from the disease. Paul Sylvester, a 60-year-old who received this therapy, describes it as life-changing. Diagnosed with myeloma two years ago, previous treatments required months of isolation. This therapy enabled his recovery within weeks, allowing him to enjoy life again.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Which patients will benefit?</h2>



<p>Around 33,000 people in the UK live with myeloma. This new drug will be administered when initial treatments fail, potentially benefiting approximately 1,500 patients annually. NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) has deemed it cost-effective for the NHS.</p>



<p>Professor Martin Kaiser, a myeloma researcher, describes these as highly intelligent drugs with significantly reduced side effects compared to other medications. While myeloma isn&#8217;t yet fully curable, Professor Kaiser believes such drugs represent a significant step towards a &#8220;functional cure,&#8221; predicting that the percentage of patients achieving long-term remission could exceed 50% within the next five years.</p>



<p>These Antibody-Drug-Conjugates (ADCs) are being developed not only for myeloma but also for various other cancers. Research is underway for breast, stomach, and bowel cancers.</p>



<p>This therapy was developed in the UK by GSK, with initial research conducted in Stevenage and early clinical trials in London. Rajasthan: Former BJP MP&#39;s son found dead, suicide suspected


<p><strong>Rajasthan News:</strong> A wave of shock swept through the Mallatalai area of Udaipur on Saturday morning when Ashish Bhagor, son of former Member of Parliament Mahavir Bhagor, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his home. The incident occurred at the Bhagor family&#8217;s private residence in Eklavya Colony. Upon receiving information, Ambamata police station personnel arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Body Sent for Forensic Examination</h2>



<p>According to reports, preliminary investigations confirmed that Ashish had died by hanging. Police said that when family members did not see Ashish at home in the morning, they began searching for him. During the search, they found him hanging from a noose in a room. The police conducted a panchnama (official report) at the scene and sent the body for forensic examination.</p>



<p>The Ambamata police station officer stated that no suicide note was found from the room, but Ashish&#8217;s mobile phone and other belongings have been seized for investigation. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the reasons behind the suicide.</p>



<p>Meanwhile, locals and relatives say that Ashish had been under mental stress for some time, although this has not yet been officially confirmed. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report and forensic investigation results to clarify the cause of the suicide.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Who was Mahavir Bhagor?</h2>



<p>Mahavir Bhagor was a well-known name in Udaipur politics. A senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mahavir had a long political career as an MLA, Minister of State, and MP. However, his name also surfaced in the 2008 &#8216;cash-for-votes&#8217; scandal, when an incident of waving around one crore rupees in Parliament caused a sensation across the country.</p>



<p>He was also imprisoned in this case. Before entering politics, he was a Deputy Director in the Social Welfare Department. In 1991, he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Salumber but lost. Later, in 1993, he became an MLA from Gogunda and served as a Minister of State in the Bhairon Singh Shekhawat government.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Wave of Grief in Surrounding Areas</h2>



<p>Mahavir Bhagor died four years ago due to a coronavirus infection. After his death, Ashish was shouldering the responsibility of the family. News of his suicide has caused a wave of grief in Eklavya Colony and the surrounding areas. A large number of people are arriving to express their condolences to the Bhagor family. The police say that the complete picture of the case will be clear only after the investigation is completed and the forensic report is received.</p>
