<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hundreds of Cases Reported</h2>



<p>Nigerian public health officials have reported 717 cases of Lassa fever in the country so far this year. According to the information, at least 18 out of the country&#8217;s 36 states have been affected by this viral hemorrhagic disease. The southern state of Ondo and the northern states of Bauchi and Taraba are the most affected, accounting for over 71% of the total Lassa fever cases nationwide.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hospitals on High Alert</h2>



<p>The Nigerian Ministry of Health has placed hospitals across the country on high alert. They have also instructed hospitals to conduct more tests to identify and treat those suffering from the fever in a timely manner.</p>

<p>On anti-terror operations in Kelar and Tral areas, Major General Dhananjay Joshi, GOC V Force, said, &#8220;On 12th May, we received information about the possible presence of a terrorist group in the higher reaches of Kelar. On the morning of 13th May, upon detecting some movement, our teams challenged the terrorists, who retaliated by opening fire. Our teams eliminated them. The second operation in the Tral area was conducted in a border village.&#8221;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Eliminated Terrorists Involved in Multiple Attacks</h2>



<p>Major General Dhananjay Joshi stated that while cordoning off this village, the terrorists hid in different houses and fired upon our forces. The challenge at this time was to protect the civilian villagers. Subsequently, three terrorists were eliminated. One of the six terrorists killed, Shahid Kutte, was involved in two major attacks, including an attack on a German tourist. He was also involved in funding activities.</p>


<p>Operation Keller: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have achieved a major success in a special operation launched against terrorists in the Kashmir Valley following Operation Sindur. PM Modi to visit Rajasthan for the first time after 'Operation Sindoor' success, to address public


<p>During the Indian Army’s anti-terror operation ‘Operation Sindoor’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bikaner on 22 May. In Deshnok, he will digitally inaugurate railway stations built across the country under the Amrit Bharat Scheme. He will also address the public during the event.</p>



<p>Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will also participate. Prior to this, on 17 May, Union Law Minister Arjunram Meghwal, along with ministers from the state and central governments, will arrive in Bikaner to finalise the arrangements for the Prime Minister&#8217;s visit.</p>



<p>Following indications from the Prime Minister&#8217;s Office (PMO), the district administration became active on Thursday. Under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, two high-tech railway stations, Dabwali and Gogamedi, have been completed in the Bikaner division. Work on Lalgarh station in Bikaner is also nearing completion. The Desnok railway station in the Jodhpur division has been completed. Under this scheme, 22 stations in the Bikaner division are being redeveloped.</p>

<p><strong>Music Producer Pinky Dhaliwal house:</strong> Well-known Punjabi music producer Pushpinder Dhaliwal, also known as Pinky Dhaliwal, narrowly escaped harm after his Mohali home was targeted in a shooting incident late Thursday night. </p>



<p>Police report that six to seven rounds were fired by unknown assailants outside his residence. Fortunately, no one was injured. Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area.</p>



<p>According to a Hindustan Times report, Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans and DSP Prithvi Singh Chahal, along with the CIA staff, arrived at the scene. Following their investigation, they confirmed that Pinky Dhaliwal was at home during the incident. While the bullets hit the gate and outer walls of Dhaliwal&#8217;s house, the producer himself remained unharmed.</p>

<p>Police have revealed that two individuals on motorcycles carried out the attack, fleeing the scene after the shooting. A case has been registered against the assailants under relevant criminal sections by the Mullanpur police. The investigation is ongoing, including the examination of CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Police are confident that the two suspects will soon be apprehended.</p>

<p>It is worth noting that Pushpinder Dhaliwal, alias Pinky Dhaliwal, previously faced allegations of exploitation and humiliation from renowned Punjabi singer Sunanda Sharma. Sharma claimed that Dhaliwal&#8217;s alleged abusive behaviour caused her significant financial losses, mental trauma, and reputational damage. Dhaliwal was arrested following these allegations but was later released by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.</p>

<p><strong>Mayank Yadav, Indian Premier League 2025:</strong> Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have suffered another major setback. Fast bowler Mayank Yadav has been ruled out of the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to a back injury. He has been replaced by New Zealand fast bowler William O’Rourke for ₹3 crore.</p>



<p>Mayank had been battling injuries at the start of the season as well. After returning, he played two matches against Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), but managed only two wickets.</p>



<p>This is not the first time Mayank has been sidelined due to injury. He was also out of action for most of the 2024 season due to a strange toe injury. He missed not only the IPL but also the domestic cricket season. However, he did make his debut for India in the T20 series against Bangladesh in October 2024.</p>



<p>Commenting on his injury, Mayank said, “I had a major injury that kept me away from cricket for 5-6 months. The body needs time to regain its rhythm. There have been no changes in my bowling technique, but it&#8217;s essential to rebuild the body and pace.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Punjab Kings Changes: Ferguson Replaced by Jamieson</h2>



<p>Punjab Kings (PBKS) have also suffered a major blow with the injury to fast bowler Lockie Ferguson. He was injured during a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). <p>In Madhya Pradesh, the retirement age for teachers and doctors in AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga &amp; Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) colleges will be increased to 65 years, aligning with the retirement age of allopathic doctors. The AYUSH department has submitted a proposal to the cabinet. This amendment will come into effect once approved by the cabinet. This decision addresses the shortage of AYUSH doctors, as 15-20 doctors retire annually, while recruitment hasn&#8217;t kept pace.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">11 New Ayurvedic Colleges to Open</h2>



<p>The government is also establishing 11 new Ayurvedic colleges. Five of these are expected to commence next year. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced this at the Ayurveda Mahotsav in the capital in January 2025. The proposal had been pending due to financial objections. It&#8217;s worth noting that this proposal has been pending at the government level for over five years.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Demand for 65-Year Retirement Age</h2>



<p>The retirement age for faculty in medical colleges, higher education, technical education, and veterinary education colleges is already 65 years. Therefore, AYUSH college teachers and doctors have been demanding a similar increase in their retirement age. In health department hospitals, the retirement age for doctors has already been increased from 62 to 65 years due to a shortage of doctors.</p>

<p><strong>UPSC Success Story:</strong> Many aspire to take the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), but few achieve success. The Civil Services Examination requires significant resources, including coaching classes, study materials, and time. However, Ankita Kanthi, with limited resources, achieved an impressive 137th rank in the UPSC examination, making history by securing the top position among Hindi medium candidates.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ankita Creates History with 137th Rank</h2>



<p>In the UPSC CSE 2024 examination, Ankita achieved the 137th rank and emerged as the topper among Hindi medium candidates. Ankita hails from Dehradun. Her childhood was marked by struggle. Her father, Deveshwar Kanthi, works in a private security agency, guarding cash transport vehicles for banks. Her mother, Usha Kanthi, is a housewife. Ankita is the eldest of three siblings. She continued her preparation while managing household responsibilities. Despite financial constraints and family responsibilities, Ankita remained focused.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Obtained BSc and MSc Degrees</h2>



<p>Ankita completed her primary and secondary education (up to class 10) at Doon Modern School, Tuntowala, Dehradun. She then completed her 12th standard from Sanjay Public School, scoring 96.4% and securing fourth rank in Uttarakhand in 2018. She subsequently completed her BSc from DBS College and MSc in Physics from DAV College.</p>

<p>Students awaiting the <strong>Haryana Board 10th Result</strong> will soon have their wait end. The Haryana School Education Board (HBSE) may announce the Class 10 results today, 16 May 2025. Candidates can check their results on the board&#8217;s official website, bseh.org.in. However, the board has not yet officially released the date and time of the result. But according to sources, after the result could not be released on 15 May, there is now a strong possibility of the results being released today. This is because earlier, during the announcement of the Class 12 results, Board Chairman Dr. Pawan Sharma had stated that preparations for the Class 10 results were complete and would be released this week.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Haryana Board 10th Result: Exam Information</h2>



<p>The Haryana Board&#8217;s Class 10 examinations were held between 28 February and 19 March 2025. Last year, HBSE released the Class 10 results on 13 May. At that time, the overall pass percentage was 95.22%, with girls achieving a pass percentage of 96.32% and boys achieving 94.22%.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Physical Fitness/Efficiency Test</h2>



<p>The physical fitness/efficiency test is divided into four stages. Candidates must pass all four stages to pass the test. Failure in any one stage will disqualify the candidate from proceeding to the next stage. The race must be completed within the stipulated time; failure to do so will result in disqualification.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Must Pass All Stages</h2>



<p>Candidates must pass each stage of the physical test. Successful candidates will proceed to the next stage, while unsuccessful candidates will be eliminated. Height and chest measurements will then be taken. Those who meet the criteria will be selected for the next stage. This will be followed by long jump and shot put tests. Candidates will be given three attempts for each event, with a maximum score of 5 points for each.</p>
