
<p><strong>UP Weather Update Today:</strong> Uttar Pradesh is experiencing fluctuating weather conditions. There are periods of intense sunshine, strong winds, and occasional showers. Currently, there is a possibility of rain in UP until 11 May. After 11 May, the weather will change completely, and the heat will be in full swing. On 10 May, there is a likelihood of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in several areas. Winds are expected to reach speeds of 30-40 km per hour.</p>



<p>According to the meteorological department, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning on Saturday in Chandauli, Varanasi, Mau, Sant Kabir Nagar, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Ballia, Jhansi, and Banda districts. Similarly, there is a chance of thunderstorms in Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Lalitpur, and surrounding areas.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Possibility of Strong Winds in These Areas</h2>



<p>Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur-Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Budaun, Jalaun, and Jhansi may experience winds reaching speeds of up to 50 km per hour.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Minimal Impact on Temperature</h2>



<p>Regarding the state&#8217;s temperature, no significant change in the maximum temperature is expected in the next 24 hours. Thereafter, a gradual increase of 4-6 degrees is anticipated. Similarly, no major change in the minimum temperature is expected in the next 72 hours. A gradual increase of 2-4 degrees is likely after that. On 11 May, the weather in western UP may be clear. In eastern UP, there may be showers accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas.</p>


<p>Light rain is expected on 10th and 11th May, with the possibility of strong winds and lightning in some areas.</p>

<p><strong>Operation Sindoor:</strong> Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Saturday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that Pakistan&#8217;s actions over the past few days are being viewed as provocative and aggressive. Colonel Sofiya Qureshi further stated during the briefing that Pakistan attempted to attack airbases in Punjab. Colonel Qureshi said on Saturday morning that in addition to targeting military installations, Pakistan also targeted medical facilities in Srinagar, Awantipora, and Udhampur.</p>

<p>In a press briefing by the Indian Army, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi gave updates related to the India-Pakistan tension. Pakistan attempted air incursions at 26 locations. In response, India targeted radar systems and technical installations in Pakistan. Pakistan targeted medical and educational facilities in Kashmir.</p>

<p>Colonel Sofiya Qureshi stated that Pakistan misused flight paths under the guise of civilian aircraft. She further explained that Pakistan attempted shelling on the LoC. Pakistan attacked medical centres and school premises. Light arms fire continued in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, and Rajouri. The Indian Army responded strongly.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Another Death in Pak Shelling in Jammu</h2>



<p>Another person died in Pakistan shelling in RS Pura, Jammu. Ashok Kumar, son of Baldev Raj of Biddipur Jatta, died in the Pak shelling while shifting his family to a safer location. Three other family members are reported injured.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Five Deaths So Far</h2>



<p>Thus, the death toll in the overnight Pak shelling, drone, and missile attacks in the Jammu region has risen to five, including a senior officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service and two Bihar residents from Rajouri town. A woman died in the Mendhar area of Poonch.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Indian Army Responds Decisively, Foils Drone Attack</h2>



<p>A defence official stated that the Indian Army successfully shot down a Pakistani Army armed drone using L-70 air defence guns in the Kutch sector of Gujarat.</p>

<p>BSF Jammu destroyed a terrorist launchpad in Sialkot, Pakistan on Saturday. According to a statement issued by the BSF, Pakistan initiated unprovoked firing on BSF posts in the Jammu sector today. In retaliation, the BSF launched a counter-offensive, causing extensive damage to Pakistani Rangers&#8217; posts and assets along the International Border. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Srinagar: Explosion Debris Falls on Several Houses</h2>



<p>Parts of a projectile fell in Lasjan, Srinagar this morning following an explosion. The debris landed between several houses. It was a narrow escape for the residents. Ashraf, an eyewitness in Srinagar, said that there was a loud explosion at 5:45 am on Friday. After that, we came here and found an object lying there. We called the local head, who then called the police. They came and recovered it. We didn&#8217;t know what it was… there were no casualties.</p>

<p>Smoke and sirens were heard following a loud explosion in the Dibber area of Udhampur. <p><strong>Operation Sindoor:</strong> The ongoing tension between India and Pakistan over Kashmir and the recent military clashes have presented a significant intelligence opportunity for China. Experts believe that China is closely monitoring this conflict to gain insights into India&#8217;s military capabilities, missile systems, air defence, and combat strategies.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Monitoring from Land and Sea</h2>



<p>Alexander Neill, a Singapore-based security analyst, states that this is a rare intelligence opportunity near China&#8217;s borders, involving a potential strategic rival (India). China&#8217;s military capabilities have now reached a level where it can monitor India&#8217;s every move in real-time – be it along the Himalayan border, the movements of the Indian Navy in the Indian Ocean, or through space-based surveillance.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Chinese Presence in Pakistani Fighter Jets</h2>



<p>Reports suggest that Pakistan, using Chinese-made J-10 fighter jets, targeted at least two Indian military aircraft. One of these is reportedly a Rafale fighter jet, although India has not yet confirmed any aircraft damage. This presents a rare opportunity for countries worldwide to conduct in-depth analysis of fighter jets, missiles, and pilot tactics used in real combat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">China&#8217;s Satellite Strength</h2>



<p>According to the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), China now possesses 267 satellites, of which 115 are for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, and 81 are for military electronic data collection. This number significantly surpasses that of regional rivals, particularly India, and is second only to the United States.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Focus on Missile Systems</h2>



<p>China is particularly interested in India&#8217;s missile systems, such as the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile – jointly developed by India and Russia. This missile has not yet been used in combat, so China will attempt to meticulously track every data point if and when it is deployed.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Chinese Activity at Sea</h2>



<p>During an Indian Navy exercise in the Arabian Sea on 1 May, approximately 224 Chinese fishing vessels were observed within 120 nautical miles of India. According to open-source intelligence tracker Damien Symon, these vessels may be engaged in intelligence gathering, not solely fishing.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Deep Ties with Pakistan</h2>



<p>Pakistan has acknowledged its all-weather strategic partnership with China. The military relationship between Pakistan&#8217;s Ministry of Defence and China is extremely deep. Experts believe that Chinese military advisors present in Pakistan can easily provide the PLA (People&#8217;s Liberation Army) with information related to India&#8217;s activities.</p>

<p>The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has postponed the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for a week due to escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border and nearby areas.</p>



<p>Today’s match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Lucknow has been called off. On Thursday, the match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamshala was also halted midway.</p>



<p>The decision was taken during an emergency meeting held on Friday.</p>



<p>A match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala on Thursday had to be stopped after 10.1 overs due to aerial and drone attacks from Pakistan. The attacks resulted in blackouts in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur – all areas near Dharamshala. This heightened uncertainty surrounding the tournament.</p>



<p>The decision was made by the IPL Governing Council following representations from several franchisees, who shared concerns expressed by players. Broadcasters, sponsors and fans were also considered during discussions. While the BCCI expressed confidence in the country’s armed forces, it said the suspension was in the best interest of all stakeholders.</p>



<p>In a statement, the Board said it stood united with the Government of India, the Armed Forces, and the citizens. It saluted the courage and sacrifice of the armed forces involved in Operation Sindoor, who are responding to the recent terrorist attack and Pakistan’s military aggression.</p>



<p>&#8220;While cricket remains a national passion, there is nothing greater than the Nation and its sovereignty, integrity, and security,&#8221; the statement read. The BCCI affirmed its commitment to decisions that uphold the nation’s interest above all else.</p>



<p>The suspension follows Thursday night’s incident at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium, which led to the cancellation of the match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC). The IPL had reached its closing stages, with the final originally set for May 25.</p>

<p>Similarly, District Collector Namrata Vrishni has banned the purchase, sale, and use of all types of firecrackers and fireworks. This order will be applicable to the entire Bikaner district. Violation of the order will be punishable under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code 2023. This order will come into effect immediately and will remain in force for two months.</p>

<p><strong>Eye Hospital:</strong> Balod district residents are set to receive another healthcare boon. A fully equipped eye hospital will soon be operational within the district hospital complex. The CGMS (Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation) department of the health ministry has completed construction of a 40-bed eye hospital within the hospital complex and has handed it over to the district hospital. The eye hospital has been built under the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment. The shifting of equipment and furniture will be undertaken shortly. The ophthalmology department is expected to commence operations within two to three days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lack of Ophthalmologists</h2>



<p>The district currently lacks ophthalmologists. Due to this shortage, not a single eye operation, including cataract surgeries, has been performed at the district hospital for the past year. The department&#8217;s services are limited to eye examinations only. Many patients are seeking eye surgeries at hospitals in other districts.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">₹75 Lakh Eye Hospital</h2>



<p>The government has constructed the hospital building at a total cost of ₹75 lakh. A further ₹25 lakh will be spent on purchasing furniture, bringing the total expenditure to ₹one crore.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Comprehensive Facilities at the Eye Hospital</h2>



<p>The district hospital sees a daily influx of patients seeking eye examinations. Currently, there is only one operating theatre, used for all types of surgeries. If an infection occurs in the operating theatre, it has to be shut down. A dedicated eye operation theatre will eliminate the need for patients to navigate these challenges.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rising Number of Cataract Patients</h2>



<p>The district witnesses a yearly increase in cataract patients. These patients visit the district hospital for examinations and surgeries. Doctors are providing timely treatment for cataract patients. The new eye hospital will provide both treatment and medication. The district has approximately one thousand cataract patients.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">When Will Ophthalmologist Recruitment Take Place?</h2>



<p>The district hospital previously employed one ophthalmologist, who left in August of last year. Since then, there has been no ophthalmologist, resulting in the cessation of eye surgeries.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ophthalmologist Recruitment Imminent</h2>



<p>Civil Surgeon Dr. R.K. Shrimal stated that the newly constructed eye hospital has been handed over to the district hospital by the CGMS department. The shifting of furniture and equipment will be carried out soon. The recruitment of an ophthalmologist is expected shortly.</p>
