<p><strong>BPSC Assistant Engineer Salary:</strong> The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced recruitment for 1024 Assistant Engineer positions. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Salary Details </h2>



<p>The BPSC Assistant Engineer salary is based on Pay Level 9 of the pay matrix, with a grade pay of ₹5400/-. Therefore, the basic salary for candidates will be ₹53,100. This is the starting salary. The salary increases with experience and work performance. Including allowances and deductions, the BPSC Assistant Engineer&#8217;s salary ranges from ₹64,258 to ₹70,468.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Annual Salary </h2>



<p>Including all allowances, the in-hand salary for BPSC Assistant Engineers ranges from approximately ₹64,258 to ₹70,468. This salary applies to all three branches (Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical). Therefore, the annual package for BPSC Assistant Engineers is approximately ₹9 to ₹11.5 lakhs.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Allowances for BPSC Engineers</h2>



<p>In addition to the salary, BPSC Assistant Engineers receive various allowances, including Travel Allowance (TA) ranging from ₹600 to ₹1500. A medical allowance of approximately ₹1000 is also provided. HRA ranges from ₹3186 to ₹8496.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Apply Within the Deadline</h2>



<p>This BPSC recruitment will fill positions for Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineers. There are 984 Civil Engineering positions, 36 Mechanical Engineering positions, and 4 Electrical Assistant Engineer positions. The application process will begin on 30 April 2025, and the last date to apply is 28 May 2025.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Eligibility Criteria</h2>



<p>Applicants must hold an engineering degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering from a university/institute recognised by AICTE. IMD Issues Storm and Rain Warning for Several States from 11-15 May


<p><strong>Weather Rain forecast:</strong> India has experienced a sudden weather change. Many states, including the national capital Delhi-NCR, have experienced pleasant weather due to light rain and intermittent drizzle. People, distressed by the scorching heat, have received much-needed relief. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a warning of thunderstorms, strong winds, and rain in several states from 11 May for the next few days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Chances of Rain in Delhi, but Clear Skies Ahead</h2>



<p>The Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of rain in Delhi today. However, the weather will remain clear for the next 5 days, although there will be light cloud cover. A slight drop in temperature may make the morning and evening air feel cooler.</p>



<p>Due to two active western disturbances in the northern parts of the country, widespread changes in weather are expected. One disturbance is active as a cyclonic circulation near northern Pakistan, while the other is in the form of a trough. Due to these, strong winds (40-60 km/h), lightning, and light to moderate rain are likely in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on 11 and 12 May.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Impact of Two Active Western Disturbances in North India</h2>



<p>Furthermore, a warning of rain and thunderstorms has been issued for 20 districts in Uttar Pradesh. The maximum temperature in more than 10 districts of the state has reached close to 40°C. In Agra, strong winds of 80 km/h blew yesterday, uprooting several hoardings and trees.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Temperature Rise and Heatwave Warning in Central and Eastern India</h2>



<p>A temperature increase of 2 to 4°C is expected in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand. A heatwave warning has also been issued for these areas. From 11 to 15 May, hot winds are likely to severely affect the plains of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heavy Rainfall Expected in Northeast States</h2>



<p>Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the northeastern states—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura—within the next five days. Specifically, between 11 and 15 May, Assam and Meghalaya may receive 115 mm or more rainfall, which could lead to flood-like situations.</p>

<p><strong>Operation Sindoor:</strong> Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding an immediate special session of Parliament. This demand is to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and the recently announced ceasefire between India and Pakistan.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s in the letter?</h2>



<p>In his letter, Rahul Gandhi stated that a parliamentary discussion on these serious national issues is necessary to inform the public and their representatives. He wrote, “Discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and the ceasefire is crucial for the people. This will be an opportunity to demonstrate our unity and collective resolve.”</p>

<p>Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge reiterated this demand in his letter. He wrote, “On 28 April 2025, opposition leaders demanded a special session in the wake of the Pahalgam attack. Now, with Operation Sindoor and the ceasefire announcement, this demand has become even more relevant.” Kharge also mentioned that the ceasefire was first announced by US President Donald Trump, a point the opposition has questioned.</p>

<p>The Congress and opposition parties say that a special session will send a positive message regarding national security and the situation on the border. Kharge said, “We want the government to seriously consider this demand and convene a session as soon as possible.” Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the killing of 28 civilians in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025, saw the Indian Army attack terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Over 100 terrorists are reported to have been killed in this operation.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Modi&#8217;s absence</h2>



<p>While the opposition gave full support to the government in the all-party meeting, Kharge expressed displeasure at Prime Minister Modi&#8217;s absence. The opposition&#8217;s demand now reflects a hope for a comprehensive discussion on these issues through a special session of Parliament. Congress has also announced that it has postponed all its political programs for a few days following Operation Sindoor to prioritise national security.</p>

<p>Late on Friday night, Bassi police station police recovered a large quantity of explosives from an unattended pickup van parked on the highway near Mohanpura Pullia, Dausa-Jaipur road in the capital Jaipur. Police have seized the vehicle and launched an investigation.</p>



<p>Police said that during night patrol, information was received that a pickup van was parked in a suspicious condition near Mohanpura Pullia. Police arrived at the scene and searched for the driver but could not find him. The pickup was then brought to the police station with the help of a crane.</p>

<p>Police said that during the investigation at the police station, 63 cartons were found in the pickup van, each marked with a weight of 25 kilograms. Each carton contained 12 bundles, thus a total of 756 bundles were recovered. All cartons were marked &#8220;Opty Star Explosive Classic 2-Cat ZZ AV&#8221;. The investigation confirmed that all bundles contained explosive material. In addition, ten white plastic sacks were also found in the pickup, marked &#8220;Ammonium Nitrate, Weight 50 kg&#8221;. These sacks also contained explosive material.</p>

<p>Police said that transporting such a large quantity of explosives without a license and leaving it unattended in a public place could pose a serious threat to human life. Police are now searching for the vehicle owner and driver based on the pickup&#8217;s registration number.</p>

Chota Rajan Acquitted in 21 Year Old Attempted Murder Case


<p>Chota Rajan, the underworld don, has been acquitted by a special CBI court in Mumbai in a 21 year old attempted murder case. The case dates back to 2004, involving an attempt on the life of a Mumbai businessman. The court ruled that the prosecution failed to prove the crime against Chota Rajan due to a lack of concrete evidence.</p>

<p>According to the case registered at Andheri police station in 2004, 6-7 individuals entered the businessman&#8217;s firm&#8217;s office and fired shots at an accountant present there. Chota Rajan was declared a wanted accused in this incident. The trial against him commenced after his extradition from Bali, Indonesia, in 2015. However, the special court acquitted Rajan due to insufficient evidence.</p>

<p>Chota Rajan is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail, Delhi, serving a life sentence for the 2011 murder of journalist Jyotirmoy Dey. <p>Bikaner District Collector Namrata Vrishni stated in the order that using the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Citizen Protection Code 2023, restrictions have been imposed across all urban and rural areas of the Bikaner district. According to the order, flying UAVs, drone cameras, hot air balloons, etc., will be prohibited. This prohibition will not apply to the operation of strategically important activities by the central government&#8217;s military or paramilitary forces and the state government&#8217;s police department.</p>
