<p><strong>Ramanand Sagar&#8217;s Son Passes Away:</strong> Sad news has emerged from the entertainment world. Prem Sagar, son of renowned filmmaker Ramanand Sagar and a producer himself, passed away this morning (Sunday), 31 August 2025, at 10 am. He had reportedly been unwell for some time and was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He was 84 years old.</p>

<p>According to the latest information, Prem Sagar&#8217;s last rites will be performed this evening at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu, Mumbai.</p>



<p>Prem Sagar was not only a well-known producer but also a skilled cinematographer. As the son of Ramanand Sagar, he carried forward the Sagar family&#8217;s legacy in cinema and television. He was a student at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune in 1968. He successfully spearheaded many memorable projects under his father&#8217;s production house, Sagar Arts, including the famous Ramanand Sagar television serial, Ramayan.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Impressed All with his Work</h2>



<p>Prem Sagar won everyone&#8217;s hearts with his work, playing a significant role in popular TV shows like Vikram aur Betaal, Ramayan, and Shri Krishna. Furthermore, he worked as a cinematographer in films such as Lalkaar, Ankhen, and Charas. He also directed and produced the film Hum Tere Aashiq Hain, starring Jitendra and Hema Malini.</p>

<p><strong>Voter Adhikar Yatra </strong>will conclude in Patna on Monday. Instead of a rally, a padyatra will be held at Patna&#8217;s Gandhi Maidan to mark the culmination of the Yatra. Congress leader Pawan Khera stated this while speaking to reporters in Patna. He said the padyatra will proceed from Gandhi Maidan in Patna to the Ambedkar statue near the Patna High Court. All senior leaders of the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) will participate in the padyatra. This approximately four-kilometre-long march has been named &#8216;Gandhi to Ambedkar&#8217;.</p>

However, due to the unavailability of Gandhi Maidan on September 1st, the day of the Congress rally, this decision was changed. Instead of securing an alternative venue like the Veterinary College ground or Miller ground, Congress directly announced the padyatra. The reason for this change remains unclear. While the message Rahul Gandhi aims to convey through this padyatra will be revealed tomorrow, Congress workers are quite enthusiastic about it.</p>

<p>The padyatra will commence at 10:00 AM from Gate Number One of Gandhi Maidan. Congress leaders claim that approximately one lakh people will participate in this march. <p>After a day of rest on Sunday, August 31st, the Voter Adhikar Yatra will conclude in Patna on Monday with the padyatra. Mahagathbandhan workers have been working day and night for the past two days to ensure the successful culmination of the Yatra. The Yatra began on August 17th from Sasaram, Bihar, covering approximately 1300 kilometres across 24 districts and 50 assembly constituencies.</p>

<p>Russian drones have wreaked havoc in Ukraine. Late at night, Russian drones targeted four power plants in the Ukrainian city of Odesa, leaving over 29,000 homes without electricity on Sunday morning.</p>



<p>Oleh Kiper, the governor of the Odesa region, reported that the most significant damage occurred in Chornomorsk, a port city on the outskirts of Odesa, where residential and administrative buildings were also damaged. One person is reported injured so far.</p>

<p>A tragic road accident has shaken the Beed district of Maharashtra. On Saturday, a speeding container truck mowed down six people walking by the roadside near Namalgaon Fata on the Dhule-Solapur road. The impact was so severe that all six died instantly.</p>



<p>According to reports, the accident occurred around 7:30 am. Eyewitnesses stated that the truck was speeding and the driver lost control. The uncontrolled truck veered onto the roadside, hitting the pedestrians. The collision was so forceful that all were critically injured. Locals rushed the injured to the hospital, but doctors pronounced all six dead after examination.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Six Lives Lost to a Runaway Truck</h2>



<p>Police identified the deceased as Akash Kolse (25), Vishal Kakde, Aniket Shinde, Dinesh Pawar (21), Kishor Taur, and Pawan Jagtap (30). All were local residents. Their families are devastated, and the entire village is in mourning.</p>



<p>Following the incident, police arrived at the scene, took control of the situation, and seized the truck. A case has been registered against the driver, and investigations are underway. Police are also investigating whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol or if there was a mechanical fault in the truck.</p>



<p>This road accident highlights the dangers of speeding and reckless driving. Locals have urged the administration to strengthen traffic management in the area to prevent such incidents.</p>

<p><strong>Air India:</strong> A fire incident has been reported on an Air India flight from Delhi to Indore. Shortly after takeoff, the cabin crew of Air India flight AI2913 detected a fire in the right engine. The pilot subsequently shut down the engine and safely landed the aircraft at Delhi airport. An Air India spokesperson stated that the aircraft has been grounded and an alternative aircraft has been immediately provided for passengers to continue their journey to Indore.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pilot&#8217;s Quick Thinking Averts Disaster</h2>



<p>According to reports, as soon as the fire indication was detected in the engine, panic spread among the passengers. However, the pilot swiftly responded by shutting down the engine and contacting Delhi Air Traffic Control. The pilot then safely landed the plane at Delhi airport. All passengers were safely evacuated within minutes.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Recurring Technical Issues with Air India Aircraft</h2>



<p>Air India aircraft have been experiencing recurring technical malfunctions. On 18 August, an Air India flight from Kochi airport to Delhi had to be abruptly stopped before takeoff. Prior to this, a flight from Milan, Italy to Delhi was cancelled at the last minute.</p>

This has sparked a political uproar across Bihar and the entire country, with the opposition launching attacks on this issue from Parliament to the streets. <p>The Mahagatbandhan aims to replicate its performance in the 2020 Assembly elections. In the previous Bihar Assembly elections, the Mahagatbandhan won six out of eight seats in Siwan district, seven out of ten in Saran district, and five out of seven in Bhojpur district. The Mahagatbandhan seeks to repeat this success. This time, the opposition Mahagatbandhan in Bihar appears to be employing a different pre-election strategy. The Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav Voter Adhikar Yatra reflects a micro-level election strategy, with careful consideration given to which leader participates where. <p>Rajasthan&#8217;s Deputy Chief Minister, Diya Kumari, issued a stern warning to Public Works Department (PWD) officials in Jodhpur, stating that the condition of the city&#8217;s roads necessitates action against them. She criticised the poor state of the roads and the apparent inaction of the officials. She claimed to have travelled across many districts in Rajasthan but had never witnessed such substandard work from the PWD as in Jodhpur.</p>



<p>The Deputy Chief Minister chaired a meeting with officials from the PWD, Tourism, and Child Development departments at the Marwar International Centre. While the meeting was scheduled for Saturday, it was ultimately held on Friday night.</p>



<p>During the meeting, Diya Kumari expressed her displeasure at the deteriorating condition of the city&#8217;s roads and questioned the PWD&#8217;s performance. She demanded that any firm or agency using substandard materials in road construction be blacklisted.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Investigate, and if found guilty, APO</h2>



<p>The Deputy Chief Minister directed Chief Engineer Mukesh Bhati to investigate all road construction work undertaken in Jodhpur. She instructed that if any shortcomings in quality or standards were found, the responsible officials should be placed under &#8220;awaiting posting orders&#8221; (APO).</p>



<p>She highlighted the recurring issue of roads being constructed and then quickly deteriorating in Jodhpur, questioning the efficacy of the work. She also pointed out that estimates for projects are often understated initially and then inflated once work commences, expressing her confusion over this practice.</p>



<p>She cited an example where a project initially approved for ₹15 crore ultimately ballooned to ₹50 crore. She also expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of progress on projects included in the 2024-25 budget.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">SE and Chief Engineer unable to answer</h2>



<p>The Deputy Chief Minister questioned Jodhpur SE Sanjay Mathur and the Chief Engineer about whether any post-construction inspections had been carried out on Jodhpur&#8217;s roads. Both officials were unable to provide a satisfactory answer. During the meeting, Law Minister Jogaram Patel, city MLA Atul Bansali, and Deputy Mayor of South Corporation, Kishan Ladda , also expressed their dissatisfaction with the PWD&#8217;s performance.</p>



<p>Representatives also raised concerns about the Child Development Department&#8217;s failure to invite them to Anganwadi inaugurations. The Deputy Chief Minister instructed Deputy Director Samunder Singh to issue a notice regarding this matter.</p>

<p><strong>Trump Tariff:</strong> A US appeals court has ruled most of Trump&#8217;s tariffs illegal. The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit stated that even though the US President has emergency powers, he cannot use these powers to impose tariffs. According to the Associated Press, the court ordered the tariffs to remain in place until 14 October. This appeals court decision gives the Trump administration time to take the case to the Supreme Court.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Donald Trump Frustrated After Court Ruling</h2>



<p>President Donald Trump was frustrated after the appeals court ruling. He rejected the court order outright, stating that all tariffs would remain in effect. He called the court&#8217;s decision biased, claiming that if it were allowed to stand, it would ruin America. He stated that they would use tariffs in the best interests of their nation with the help of the Supreme Court.</p>



<p>Trump wrote on Truth Social that all tariffs are in effect. He stated that the appeals court&#8217;s decision to remove all tariffs is wrong, but he knows that America will ultimately win. He claimed that removing these tariffs would be a major disaster for the country. America will no longer tolerate massive trade deficits and unfair tariffs and non-tariff trade barriers imposed by other countries, whether friend or foe. He stated that this deficit negatively impacts American farmers and producers. President Donald Trump said that tariffs are the best way to support companies that make great Made in America products. This decision relates to reciprocal tariffs imposed by the US on China, Canada, and Mexico in February.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">50% Tariff on India Imposed from 27 August</h2>



<p>Trump had announced a 25 per cent reciprocal tariff on India, which came into effect on 7 August, subsequently extending to approximately 70 other countries. On 7 August, the US President announced that he would double the tariff on Indian goods to 50 per cent in response to India&#8217;s purchase of Russian crude oil.</p>

<p>A powerful explosion at a rented house in Kannur, Kerala, on Saturday morning resulted in one death and several injuries. The blast, suspected to be caused by a homemade bomb, was so intense that the victim&#8217;s body was reportedly dismembered, with remains scattered across the scene.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">House Reduced to Rubble</h2>



<p>Eyewitnesses described the house as being completely destroyed by the blast. Several nearby houses also suffered damage. Police suspect the explosion may have been accidental, occurring during the construction of a homemade bomb. The house owner, Keezhara Govindan, had leased the property to two individuals operating a spare parts shop in Payyannur, approximately 40 kilometres from Kannur.</p>



<p>The identities of the deceased and injured remain unconfirmed. The exact number of people present in the house at the time of the blast is also unknown. The impact of the explosion caused damage to surrounding houses, with walls collapsing and doors being ripped off their hinges.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Forensic Team at the Scene</h2>



<p>Forensic experts and a bomb disposal squad are at the scene collecting evidence and investigating the circumstances. The homemade bomb explosion has once again highlighted the persistent issue of illegal bomb-making in Kannur district. The area has a history of such incidents, often with political undertones.</p>

<p><strong>Jaipur:</strong> Rajasthan&#8217;s Chief Secretary, Sudhanshu Pant, stated that the country has placed special emphasis on urban development and urban infrastructure over the past 10 years. He highlighted Rajasthan&#8217;s immense potential, with its Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities rapidly developing, positioning the state to become a hub for investment and urban development. These remarks were made during the National Convention of NAREDCO.</p>



<p>He further explained that Rajasthan benefits significantly from its geographical location, connecting the NCR to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, with approximately 40% of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor passing through the state. The recent announcement of nine greenfield expressways will further enhance connectivity between major cities and national highways and other expressways.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pant&#8217;s Remarks on Jaipur Metro</h2>



<p>The recently commenced Phase-2 of the Jaipur Metro, incorporating the expertise of DMRC on the advice of Mahua, was also discussed. He mentioned policies like the Rajasthan Township Policy 2025 and Model Building Bylaws 2025, which offer high FAR and simplified approval processes. The state government is actively working to establish Bhiwadi as a strong alternative to Gurugram-Manesar.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Proposed High-Tech and IT City</h2>



<p>A high-tech city and an IT city spanning over 500 hectares are proposed in the capital city, Jaipur. Pant assured that the Rajasthan government welcomes investment, simplifying processes and committing to making investments secure and profitable. NAREDCO President, G. Hari Babu, commended the government&#8217;s efforts in strengthening the housing and infrastructure sectors, describing them as twin engines of growth.</p>

<p>At the Naredi Convention, Chief Secretary Sudhanshu Pant stated that Rajasthan will become a hub for investment and urban development. 40% of the DMIC passes through the state, and 9 greenfield expressways have been announced. A high-tech IT city is proposed in Jaipur, and Bhiwadi will be developed as an alternative to Gurugram.</p>
