<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Putin, Modi, and Jinping to Meet</h2>



<p>The SCO summit meeting in China has begun. All SCO member countries are participating. Russian President Vladimir Putin will also be attending. Given the backdrop of US tariff policies, the meeting between the leaders of the three countries is considered highly significant.</p>

Patrika Sting: Rs 50,000 per gate demand at Dussehra fair exposed


<p><strong>Jaipur</strong>: There is still a month left for Dussehra and more than one and a half months for the five-day Deepotsav festival. Yet, decorative gates have already started appearing in some city markets. A Patrika reporter investigated the gates, which are supposed to be installed only with prior municipal approval, and uncovered the truth.</p>



<p>Posing as a trader, the reporter spoke to the mela (fair) organisers. Without hesitation, they demanded ₹50,000, stating, “Don’t worry about the corporation; we’ll take care of that.” In Vidhyadhar Nagar, gates are being erected using bamboo and poles under the guise of the Dussehra mela, without any permission.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How the Scam Was Exposed: Office Address Revealed</h2>

<li><strong>Reporter:</strong> Our company is opening a new showroom in Vidhyadhar Nagar; we need gates for publicity.</li>



<li><strong>Mela Committee Official:</strong> We will be putting up 31 gates in the Vidhyadhar Nagar area.</li>



<li><strong>Reporter:</strong> We need 15 gates. What is the cost per gate?</li>



<li><strong>Official:</strong> You can get them. You can put your advertisement on the top part of the gate. On the other side, there will be a photo of Madam and an advertisement for the Dussehra mela. Photos of our workers will also be included. One gate will cost ₹50,000 for one month.</li>



<li><strong>Reporter:</strong> To avoid any problems with publicity, please send the permission from the corporation; we will get approval from the office.</li>



<li><strong>Mela Committee Official:</strong> We have permission from the corporation. No tax will be deducted. We will give you a written statement that we are fully responsible for the gates. Our logo will be displayed during the publicity, and we will get the matter approved from you.</li>

<p>At Ambabari Circle, safety measures were completely ignored during the erection of the gates. While one worker was tying bamboo, another section was hanging in the air. When it rained, the worker descended, leaving a section of bamboo hanging precariously in the air, while vehicles continued to move below.</p>

<p>A 6.0 magnitude earthquake has caused devastation in Afghanistan. Jalalabad and the surrounding areas have been severely affected, resulting in significant loss of life and property. Several villages have been completely destroyed, with homes reduced to rubble and people left homeless. Roads have collapsed, and widespread panic ensued.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Death Toll Reaches 1,100</h2>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Over 3,500 Injured</h2>



<p>The Taliban government&#8217;s interior ministry spokesperson also reported that over 3,500 people have been injured. The injured are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals, clinics, and medical centres. Many are in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll may rise further.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">India Sends Aid</h2>



<p>India was among the first to offer assistance following the earthquake. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and pledged all possible support. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi about the situation. India has delivered 1,000 family tents and 15 tonnes of food supplies from Kabul to Kunar via the Indian mission. Jaishankar also indicated that further relief materials will be sent from India.</p>

<p>The earthquake struck Jalalabad district, the capital of Nangarhar province in Afghanistan, at 12:47 AM IST (Indian Standard Time) on September 1st. This was 11:47 PM local time in Afghanistan, while most people were asleep. The earthquake&#8217;s magnitude of 6.0 and shallow depth of 8 kilometres contributed to its devastating impact.</p>


<p>A 6.0 magnitude earthquake has caused widespread devastation in Afghanistan. Significant loss of life and property has been reported, and the death toll continues to rise.</p>

<p><strong>Trump tariff:</strong> Tensions continue between India and America over tariffs. The Trump administration has imposed a 50% tariff on India. India has clearly stated that it will not compromise its strategic autonomy. Meanwhile, the two countries have come together on the front of military exercises. The armies of India and America are about to conduct a significant joint military exercise in the United States. This exercise will involve both countries&#8217; armies practicing modern warfare, including the use and countermeasures of unmanned aerial systems.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Battalion of the Madras Regiment Deployed to the US</h2>



<p>An Indian military contingent has arrived in Alaska, USA, to participate in ‘Yudh Abhyas 2025’. According to the Ministry of Defence, a unit of the Indian Army has departed for Fort Wainwright, Alaska. The exercise will run from the 1<sup>st</sup> to the 14<sup>th</sup> of September.</p>



<p>The Ministry of Defence states that this is the 21<sup>st</sup> edition of the joint military exercise ‘Yudh Abhyas 2025’ between India and the United States. According to the Ministry of Defence, the Indian military contingent participating in this exercise comprises personnel selected from a battalion of the Madras Regiment.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">US Army’s Arctic Wolves Brigade Combat Team to Participate</h2>



<p>From the US side, personnel and officers from the 1<sup>st</sup> Battalion, 5<sup>th</sup> Infantry Regiment “Bobcats”, 11<sup>th</sup> Airborne Division of the Arctic Wolves Brigade Combat Team will participate. During the two-week exercise, soldiers will practice various strategic war games and skills. These include heliborne operations, the use of surveillance resources and unmanned aerial systems. The Indo-US joint military exercise will also include practice in rock craft and mountain warfare skills, casualty evacuation and battlefield medical assistance.</p>



<p>The integrated use of artillery, aviation and electronic warfare systems is also included in this exercise. In addition, specialist officers from both armies will discuss important topics through joint task forces. These topics include the operation of unmanned aerial systems and counter-unmanned aerial systems, information warfare, communication systems and logistics management. The exercise will conclude with jointly planned and executed strategic war games, with a special emphasis on live fire exercises, high-altitude combat scenarios and preparation for United Nations peacekeeping operations.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Objective of the Exercise</h2>



<p>The main objective of ‘Yudh Abhyas 2025’ is to strengthen mutual cooperation and interoperability between the two armies and to make preparations for tackling multi-domain challenges more effective. It is noteworthy that India is currently also conducting an exercise in Egypt. This is a multilateral joint military exercise.</p>



<p>Various countries&#8217; armies are participating in this exercise, called ‘Bright Star 2025’, including an Indian military contingent. The ‘Bright Star’ exercise was jointly initiated by Egypt and the United States in 1980. It is considered the largest tri-service multilateral exercise in the West Asia and North Africa region.</p>

<p>A major operation was carried out in Bhopal, the capital city, on Tuesday morning. A team from the Income Tax department raided the Science House Group building located in Gautam Nagar. According to reports, officials arrived with a convoy of five vehicles. CRPF personnel were deployed for security during the raid.</p>

<p>According to information received, this Income Tax raid was conducted at the premises of Rajesh Gupta, a medical surgical goods trader. The Gautam Nagar-based Science House Group building houses Rajesh Gupta&#8217;s office. A team from the department also reached his home in Panchwati Park, Lal Ghati. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Close Ties to Senior IAS Officer and Broker</h2>



<p>It is being reported that raids were also conducted at the premises of those who supply medical equipment to the trader. This includes Jitendra Tiwari, Shailendra Tiwari, and Mohan Sharma. Sources say that all of them have close ties to a senior IAS officer and a broker.</p>



<p>Locals reported being surprised by the sight of so many vehicles and security personnel early in the morning. Currently, the Income Tax team is examining documents and records inside the building. The reason for the raid has not yet been officially confirmed.</p>

<p>The monsoon is being generous in Madhya Pradesh. Clouds brought heavy showers in the month of Sawan. Though the early days of Bhadon were dry, in the last five days, as the month draws to a close on 7 September, rains have returned. Due to monsoon trough activity, more than 26 districts witnessed heavy rainfall on Monday.</p>



<p>In Ratlam, heavy rains filled the Gholawad Dam, forcing officials to open three gates. As a result, Palsoda village went under water, and people were seen climbing onto rooftops.</p>



<p>According to the Meteorological Department, an alert for very heavy rain has been issued in Madhya Pradesh for the next 72 hours. For today, warnings of heavy showers have been given in 14 districts.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Good Rainfall Expected in September</h2>



<p>Bhopal also experienced intermittent rain since morning. According to the Meteorological Department, the state&#8217;s seasonal quota is 39 inches, of which 37.72 inches have already fallen. Bhopal has received 32.57 inches of rain so far against a quota of 43 inches, leaving a shortfall of 10.43 inches. The Meteorological Department predicts good rainfall in September. In Damoh, just two hours of rain after 11 days resulted in 2.8 inches of rainfall. Ratlam and Datia received 1.5 inches, Gwalior 0.75 inches, and Bhopal 0.5 inches. While the generous rainfall brought relief to many districts, it also caused problems in some areas.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heavy Rainfall Warning for 14 Districts Today</h2>



<p>The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in 14 districts in the next 24 hours. These include Alirajpur, Jhabua, Ratlam, Ujjain, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Sheopurkalan, Sidhi, Rewa, Mauganj, Dindori, Seoni, Mandla, and Balaghat. These areas could receive 2.5 to 4.5 inches of rain in the next 24 hours. Other districts in the state are under an alert for thunderstorms and light rain.</p>

<p>According to the Meteorological Department&#8217;s report, an orange alert for extremely heavy rainfall has been issued for Barwani, Khargone, and Burhanpur in MP on 3 September. These areas could receive up to 8.5 inches of rain in the next 24 hours. A yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Khandwa, Harda, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Sheopur, Morena, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, and Dindori.</p>

<p>Conditions in the Indian and Pacific Oceans will keep several monsoon activities active in September. This suggests two or three spells of rain throughout the month, ensuring the state&#8217;s quota is met.</p>

<p><strong>SS David Passed Away:</strong> Sad news is coming from the South Indian film industry. Famous filmmaker and writer SS David has passed away. He bid farewell to the world at the age of 55. David suddenly experienced chest pain and collapsed around 7:30 pm on August 31st in a Bengaluru pharmacy. He was rushed to a hospital in RR Nagar, Bengaluru, but was declared dead upon arrival.</p>



<p>David made his mark in Kannada cinema in the 1990s. He directed films like <em>Jaihind</em> and <em>Dhairya</em>, whose stories resonated with audiences. He also worked on the successful action film <em>Police Story</em> as a screenwriter, which was well-received by viewers.</p>

<p><strong>MP News:</strong> The condition of the low-floor bus service has deteriorated to such an extent that officials have given up hope of improving it. Monday&#8217;s meeting focused entirely on the Pradhan Mantri E-Bus service. The meeting decided that infrastructure for electric buses will be developed within six months, after which 195 new e-buses (E Bus) will be operated in two phases in the capital, Bhopal.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Current Bus Service&#8217;s Deplorable State</h2>



<p>At one time, 368 buses ran on 24 routes in the capital, but now only 40-60 buses are operating on only 4 routes. This number is very low for the city&#8217;s population of 2.5 million. There is only one bus available for every 25,000 passengers. Many buses are out of service.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Allegations of Negligence and Corruption</h2>



<p>BCCL Director Manoj Rathour admitted that the poor bus service is due to the collusion and negligence of officials. He stated that officials, in collusion with operators, have ruined the bus service.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pradhan Mantri E-Bus Service Plan</h2>



<p>The meeting emphasised launching the Pradhan Mantri E-bus (E Bus) service. Under this scheme, a total of 195 electric buses will be run in the city in two phases. However, it will take six months to launch them. Until then, citizens will have to face the existing problems.</p>

<p>Indian Army foils major infiltration bid in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. A gunfight is underway between the army and terrorists. Army officials stated that significant terrorist activity was observed in the Balakote sector of Poonch, prompting the Indian Army to engage them, leading to heavy firing from both sides. Officials added that a search operation is ongoing.</p>



<p>Earlier, on 28 August, two terrorists were killed following the army&#8217;s thwarting of an infiltration attempt in the Gurez sector of the Line of Control (LoC) in Bandipora district. Last week, a key terrorist, Bagu Khan, known for his expertise in infiltration and nicknamed the &#8220;human GPS,&#8221; was also eliminated by the army. Bagu Khan is believed to have facilitated over 100 infiltrations between 1995 and 2025.</p>



<p>Officials confirmed the recovery of Bagu Khan&#8217;s identity card, revealing his Pakistani nationality. A soldier was martyred during operational duty in Kupwara district. The soldier has been identified as Havildar Iqbal Ali. The army stated, “His courage and dedication will always inspire us. We stand in solidarity with the bereaved family and are committed to their well-being.” Following the cessation of Operation Sindhur, Pakistan-backed terrorists have renewed infiltration attempts along the 740-kilometre Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.</p>
