Tsunami hits Russia and Japan
Following today’s earthquake in Russia, a tsunami alert was issued for coastal areas of Russia, Japan, the United States, China, Indonesia, Ecuador, Chile, Costa Rica, French Polynesia, and Guam. Shortly afterwards, tsunami waves hit some coastal regions in Russia and Japan, and the threat still remains.
One Person Dead
One person has been confirmed dead in the earthquake that struck Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula region today. The death toll is expected to rise.
Several Injured, Damage to Houses and Buildings
Due to the earthquake in Russia, several people have been injured not only in the affected area but also in the surrounding regions. So far, no deaths have been reported. The earthquake has also caused damage to many houses and buildings.
People Advised to Move to Safer Locations
Following the earthquake in Russia, people in countries at risk of a tsunami have been advised to leave their homes and move to higher, safer locations. Considering the seriousness of the situation, evacuation efforts have begun in several areas to relocate people to safety.
