<p>Terrorists had attempted infiltration in the Torana area of the Uri sector when soldiers deployed on the Line of Control noticed suspicious activity. The infiltrators were challenged, following which there was an exchange of fire for some time. Subsequently, a large-scale search operation was launched to ensure that no terrorists managed to cross the Line of Control and infiltrate Indian territory.</p>

<p><strong>GST Rate on Car:</strong> Changes in the GST slab are set to reduce the prices of several popular cars. If you&#8217;re planning to buy a car now, hold off. From 22 September, when the new GST rates come into effect, car prices will decrease significantly. The GST Council has reduced the GST rate on most small and medium-sized cars from 28% to 18%. This represents a direct 10% reduction in the GST rate. However, luxury cars will attract a 40% tax. Even with this increase, the total tax on luxury cars will be lower than under the existing system.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Much Tax is Currently Levied on Cars?</h2>



<p>Currently, small petrol cars with an engine capacity of up to 1,200 cc and a length of less than 4 metres attract 28% GST and 1% cess. Small diesel cars with an engine capacity exceeding 1,500 cc and a length of less than 4 metres attract 28% GST and 3% cess, resulting in a total tax of 31%. Excluding electric vehicles, the GST rate on all cars is 28%, but the cess rate varies, leading to differences in the total tax. SUVs with an engine capacity exceeding 1,500 cc and a length greater than 4 metres currently attract a 50% tax, comprising 28% GST and 22% cess.</p>

<p><strong>Maruti Suzuki Alto K10</strong></p>



<p>This is one of India&#8217;s most affordable cars and a popular choice among 1.0-litre petrol engine hatchbacks. It&#8217;s widely used for both private and taxi services. The GST change will lower the Alto K10&#8217;s price. Its price is expected to drop from ₹4.23 lakh (ex-showroom) to approximately ₹3.81 lakh (ex-showroom).</p>



<p><strong>Tata Nexon</strong></p>



<p>One of India&#8217;s most popular and best-selling SUVs, the Tata Nexon&#8217;s base model could see a price reduction of approximately ₹80,000. This car will now attract 18% GST.</p>



<p><strong>Maruti Suzuki Swift and Dzire</strong></p>



<p>These two popular cars will now attract 18% GST instead of 28%. Their prices are expected to decrease by approximately ₹60,000.</p>



<p><strong>Tata Tiago</strong></p>



<p>Considered one of the country&#8217;s safest entry-level hatchbacks, it has received a 4-star safety rating from Global NCAP. Following the GST reduction, the starting price of the Tiago is expected to be ₹5.15 lakh (ex-showroom) instead of ₹5.65 lakh (ex-showroom).</p>



<p><strong>Hyundai Grand i10</strong></p>



<p>With the reduced GST rate, the price of this 1.2-litre engine small hatchback is expected to fall from ₹5.98 lakh (ex-showroom) to approximately ₹5.51 lakh (ex-showroom).</p>



<p><strong>Maruti Suzuki S-Presso</strong></p>



<p>The price of this affordable Maruti hatchback will also decrease. After the GST rate change, this car, currently priced at ₹4.26 lakh, could be available for ₹3.83 lakh.</p>



<p><strong>Renault Kwid</strong></p>



<p>The Renault Kwid, the only hatchback from this French company, could see a price reduction of approximately ₹40,000 following the GST rate changes.</p>



<p><strong>Hyundai Creta</strong></p>



<p>The Creta, one of India&#8217;s most popular SUVs, will now fall under the 40% GST bracket, compared to the previous 43% tax (28% GST and 15% cess). Its price will decrease, benefiting customers.</p>

<p>US President Donald Trump asserted that India was the world&#8217;s highest tariff-imposing nation, but that India had now proposed to not impose tariffs. However, Mohan Kumar, former Indian Ambassador to France and Director General of the Jadeja Motwani Institute for American Studies at OP Jindal Global University, refuted this claim by the Trump administration.</p>



<p>Mohan Kumar stated that the tariff war initiated by the US violated its commitments under World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements. He pointed out that India&#8217;s trade-weighted tariff is a &#8220;respectable 4.6 percent,&#8221; while the simple average tariff is approximately 16 percent. Kumar explained that India maintains high tariffs in the agricultural sector to protect the interests of its farmers. He added that no Indian government would reduce tariffs in the agricultural sector; it would be tantamount to suicide.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heavy Rainfall Alert for 26 Districts in Rajasthan</h2>



<p>A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for 26 districts in Rajasthan. Considering the heavy rainfall, schools in Dausa district have been ordered to remain closed. The Meteorological Department stated that the monsoon trough is currently passing through Bikaner, Jaipur, Damoh, Pendra Road, and extending to the Bay of Bengal, while another trough line is passing over Haryana and Punjab. The department reported heavy rainfall in Jaipur, Tonk, and other districts on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a red alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in most parts of neighbouring Gujarat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Alert for 19 Districts in Bihar</h2>



<p>The Meteorological Department has stated that the monsoon is reactivating in Bihar. The department issued a heavy rainfall and thunderstorm alert for 19 districts, including Patna. The department warned of winds reaching speeds of 40 kilometres per hour. The continuous rainfall in Nepal has caused the Kosi river in Supaul to swell, leading to flood-like situations in several areas of the district.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Warning of Extremely Heavy Rainfall in MP</h2>



<p>The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of extremely heavy rainfall for 26 districts in Madhya Pradesh (MP). The department stated that the rainfall will continue for the next three days. Alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued for Bhopal, Guna, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Ujjain, Indore, Ratlam, Dhar, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, and Balaghat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Schools Closed in Himachal Pradesh</h2>



<p>Due to incessant rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, the administration has decided to keep schools closed until 7 September. An order issued on 3 September by the Education Department stated that all government and private colleges and schools (including DIETs) in the state will remain closed until 7 September 2025. The Meteorological Department predicted heavy rainfall in Kangra, Kullu, and Sirmaur. The monsoon rains have caused damage exceeding ₹1000 crore to the state, and over 150 people have died in rain-related accidents.</p>

<p>Flood conditions persist in all 23 districts of Punjab. Over 35 people have died due to the floods, and more than 20,000 people have been rescued. The floods have damaged 175,286 hectares of crops. In Delhi, the Yamuna river has also crossed the danger mark.</p>

<p><strong>Shikhar Dhawan Appears at ED Office:</strong> Following former Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina, former opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has also come under the Enforcement Directorate&#8217;s (ED) scanner. The ED wants to ascertain the nature of his association with the app. It is known that the ED is investigating several cases of illegal betting apps accused of defrauding investors of crores of rupees and large-scale tax evasion.</p>

<p>Torrential rains lashing Pakistan since the end of June have caused widespread devastation. These monsoon rains have claimed the lives of 883 people so far, with 1,200 injured. According to Pakistani media reports, two more children died in rain-related incidents late Wednesday night. One death occurred in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), and the other in Islamabad.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Next 12 to 24 hours critical for Pakistan</h2>



<p>The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that the ongoing heavy rains in mountainous regions could cause urban flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a warning on Wednesday for potential heavy rainfall in several areas of Pakistan over the next 12 to 24 hours. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab provinces have been the hardest hit by the rains. KP has reported 488 deaths and 360 injuries.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">172 deaths reported</h2>



<p>According to the Pakistani newspaper <em>The Tribune</em>, 58 deaths were confirmed in Sindh, 41 in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB), 38 in PoK, 26 in Balochistan, and 9 in Islamabad on Wednesday. The PMD warned that flood levels in the Sutlej River in Punjab&#8217;s Ganda Singh Wala area will remain exceptionally high, while a new flood in the Chenab River may reach downstream from Marala in Punjab.</p>



<p>The PMD stated that the water level in the Panjnad River (where the Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers meet) is expected to rise between 4 and 5 September, posing a serious threat to thousands of acres of farmland and hundreds of villages. In Guddu, Sindh province, the Indus River is also expected to reach dangerous levels by 6 or 7 September. PMD officials have issued rain warnings for Punjab, KP, PoGB, and PoK.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">High risk of landslides</h2>



<p>Scattered rainfall is expected in various areas of KP, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Buner, and Abbottabad. Authorities have warned of flooding in low-lying areas, along with the risk of overflowing rivers and landslides in mountainous regions. According to the PDMA, flooding from the Chenab River has submerged 261 villages in Jhang and at least 24 villages in Muzaffargarh, Punjab. The torrential floodwaters have also destroyed over 9,200 houses, including 4,700 in KP and 2,100 in PoK. Over 6,000 livestock have been swept away. This disaster has damaged approximately 240 bridges and over 670 kilometres of roads across Pakistan.</p>

<p>Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali has been given a major reprieve by a London court. A British woman of Pakistani origin had accused Ali of rape a few days ago. However, with no concrete evidence found, he has been acquitted of these charges. Greater Manchester Police and the Crown Prosecution Service have closed the investigation. The 24-year-old Haider Ali is now free to travel.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Arrest During a Match</h2>



<p>This case came to light when Haider Ali was arrested by Manchester Police on 4 August 2025 at Canterbury grounds during a match against the Melbourne Cricket Club. Haider was then part of the Pakistan Shaheens team, which was touring England. A British-Pakistani woman accused him of rape at a Manchester hotel, following which the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took swift action and temporarily suspended him.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Court Verdict and Lack of Evidence</h2>



<p>During the hearing in the London court, Haider Ali was defended by criminal law expert barrister Moin Khan. The court decided to dismiss the case due to lack of evidence. According to reports, Greater Manchester Police and the Crown Prosecution Service did not pursue the case further after the investigation found no concrete evidence. This court decision has provided Haider Ali with significant relief.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Haider Can Now Return Home</h2>



<p>Haider had denied these allegations from the outset. He told the police that he knew the woman and they were acquainted, but he had committed no wrongdoing. He had already been granted bail, but until now he was not permitted to return to Pakistan. Now, following the court&#8217;s decision, the police have returned his passport, allowing him to travel freely anywhere from the UK, including his home country, Pakistan.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Woman&#8217;s Allegations and the Investigation Process</h2>



<p>In her complaint, the woman stated that she first met Haider Ali at a Manchester hotel on 23 July 2025. Subsequently, the two met again in Ashford on 1 August. On 5 August, the woman filed a rape complaint with Manchester Police. Based on this complaint, the police took immediate action and arrested Haider.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">PCB Suspension</h2>



<p>The Pakistan Cricket Board took a strong stance in this matter and suspended Haider, but following the court&#8217;s decision, it is believed that the PCB may soon lift his suspension. The board also provided Haider with legal assistance during the investigation, strengthening his position.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Haider Ali&#8217;s Cricket Career</h2>



<p>Haider Ali has played 2 One Day Internationals and 35 T20 Internationals for Pakistan. He has scored 505 runs in T20s at an average of 17.41. Vande Bharat Express Jodhpur: 8 Coaches, 608 Seats, Ready to Speed to Delhi


<p>The much-anticipated Vande Bharat Express train has arrived in Jodhpur. This has expedited preparations for the commencement of the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat train service. This train will run from Jodhpur, via Jaipur, to Delhi Cantt.</p>



<p>The train has been stationed at Jajiwal station, beyond Banar station. It is noteworthy that the first Vande Bharat train from Jodhpur is already operational, running to Sabarmati. This will be Jodhpur&#8217;s second Vande Bharat train.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Seven Coaches Chair Car Class and One Executive Class Coach</h2>



<p>The Vande Bharat train running from Jodhpur to Delhi Cantt is white in colour. It will have 8 coaches, including seven chair car coaches and one executive class coach. The train staff will include two TTEs, two crew members, and one guard. The train will be inaugurated virtually.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Eight-Hour Journey to Delhi Cantt</h2>



<p>According to the proposed timetable, the train will depart from Jodhpur at 5:30 AM and reach Delhi Cantt  at 1:30 PM, taking approximately eight hours. During this journey, it will reach Jaipur at 9:30 AM after a four-hour journey from Jodhpur. The train will halt at seven stations between Jodhpur and Delhi. However, the official timetable will be released by the Railway Board.</p>

Ashish Kapoor, an actor from the famous show ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, has been accused of rape, and Delhi Police arrested him in Pune.
