
<p><strong>IMD Alert:</strong> Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds is lashing several areas in Delhi-NCR since this morning. There is a strong possibility of heavy rainfall in Jammu &amp; Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh on Raksha Bandhan. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall for the next seven days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heavy Rainfall Likely from 10 to 14 August</h2>



<p>The IMD stated that a new spell of very heavy rainfall is likely to commence from 10 August in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. Delhi is expected to experience thunderstorms with rain. Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall activity is likely to commence over central India and Rajasthan during the next 4-5 days.</p>



<p>According to the IMD, the current spell of rain may continue over most parts of Northeast India. The IMD predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall over several states on 9 August. Widespread rainfall is likely over Assam and Meghalaya from 8 to 13 August. Heavy rainfall is likely in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura in the coming days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heavy Rainfall Likely in Several Districts of Bihar</h2>



<p>Many parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are also experiencing the impact of heavy rainfall. The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in these states for the next few days. The IMD has also issued a heavy rainfall alert for districts like West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Supaul, Madhepura, and Kishanganj in Bihar. The IMD has also warned of the possibility of lightning strikes in some areas.</p>

<p><strong>Jaipur.</strong> The Anti-Gangster Task Force of the Police Headquarters has apprehended six individuals, including three minors, in Jaipur and Niwai, Tonk, for allegedly plotting blasts in Delhi and Gwalior by August 15. The accused were also wanted in connection with a grenade blast outside a liquor shop in Nawanshahr, Jalandhar, Punjab on July 7, which created widespread panic.</p>



<p>After the blast in Jalandhar, the accused fled to Rajasthan. They are linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and their handler, Jishan Akhtar, is based in Canada. Investigations by security agencies revealed that the grenades were sourced from Pakistan. This operation was conducted based on information provided by the Punjab Police.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Arrested Individuals</h2>



<p>ADG Dinesh M.N. stated that the accused have been handed over to a special operations cell from Amritsar and a Punjab Police team. He identified the arrested adults as Sanjay Nayak (resident of Navrangdesar, Shergarh, Hanumangarh), Sonu alias Kali Chir (resident of Alamgir, Kapurthala, Punjab), and Ritik (resident of Madhorajpura, Jaipur). Three minors from Uttar Pradesh, Niwai, and Punjab were also apprehended. The minor from Uttar Pradesh allegedly carried out the grenade blast in Punjab.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Jishan Akhtar Claims Responsibility for Baba Siddiqui&#8217;s Murder</h2>



<p>ADG M.N. further revealed that Jishan Akhtar had claimed responsibility for the murder of Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai. Jishan Akhtar, Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti, Manu Agwan, and Gopi Nawanshahr are all reportedly connected.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Awaiting Targets</h2>



<p>Jishan Akhtar, Shahzad, and Gopi allegedly recruit underage boys from various parts of the country by offering them money. The ADG explained that the arrested accused were connected to Jishan through Instagram and other online apps. Jishan orchestrated the blast in Punjab after a liquor businessman refused to pay extortion money. Jishan Akhtar had identified Delhi and Gwalior as targets for the accused.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Operation Under ASP Siddhant Sharma&#8217;s Supervision</h2>



<p>M.N. stated that the arrests were made under the supervision of ASP Siddhant Sharma, led by Inspector Ramsingh and Sub-Inspector Narendra Singh. ASI Dushyant Singh, Head Constable Shahid Ali, and Constables Ravindra Singh, Mahendra Singh, Devendra Singh, Jitendra Kumar, and Dinesh Kumar played crucial roles in the operation.</p>

<p><strong>Artificial Rain in Jaipur:</strong> The wait for artificial rain over the Ramgarh Dam, a major water source for Jaipur, the &#8220;Pink City&#8221;, is about to end. Agriculture Minister Kirodilal Meena will launch the artificial rain mission at the dam site at 2 pm on Tuesday. </p>



<p>A 15-day drone trial will be conducted to induce rainfall, followed by two months of artificial rain twice daily over the dam area. This mission in the Ramgarh Dam area is being launched by a private company. The process was initially scheduled to begin on 31 July but was postponed due to a heavy rainfall warning.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Trial to Last Approximately Two Months</h2>



<p>Artificial rain will be induced using drones at the <strong>Ramgarh Dam</strong> on Tuesday. Around 60 experiments will be conducted. This trial will last for approximately two months. The company will bear all the expenses of the experiments. The company will share all experimental data with the Rajasthan government.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Approvals Received</h2>



<p>Approvals for artificial rain using drones have been received from various central and state government departments and agencies. The Department of Agriculture had already granted approval. The Meteorological Department and the District Administration also gave their approval in July. Approval has also been received from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for drone experiments.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Initial Date was 31 July</h2>



<p>This programme for artificial rain over the Ramgarh Dam will be conducted in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture and the American company, Axel-1. The process was initially scheduled to commence on 31 July, but was delayed due to the non-receipt of permission (NOC) from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to fly drones up to 10,000 feet.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sufficient Cloud Cover Necessary – Meteorologist</h2>



<p>According to Shashank Sharma, a meteorologist from Axel-1, artificial rain will not be possible if there is insufficient cloud cover in August-September. Indian drones will be used for the rain-making process.</p>

<p>The meteorological department has stated that inclement weather will persist in the state for the next few days, with heavy rainfall expected in several districts, including Dehradun and Uttarkashi. The Uttarkashi administration reported that heavy rainfall is delaying relief and rescue operations in Dharali. A red alert has been issued for Almora, Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Pauri, and Udham Singh Nagar for three hours until 12 pm. People have been strictly advised to stay away from rivers and streams.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ganga and Kosi Rivers in Spate</h2>



<p>The meteorological department has predicted heavy rainfall in Bihar today and tomorrow (12-13 August). The IMD has forecast very heavy rainfall in West and East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Araria, Supaul, and Kishanganj districts. Heavy rainfall has caused the Ganga, Kosi, Kamala Balan, Gandak, and Budhi Gandak rivers to swell. Several areas in Bhagalpur have been inundated by the Ganga River. The water level of the Kosi River is also steadily rising. The meteorological department has alerted the administration.</p>

<p>The meteorological department has issued an alert for very heavy rainfall in the state over the next two days. An alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Ambedkar Nagar, Saharanpur, Bijnor, and surrounding areas.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Torrential Rain Predicted for Himachal Pradesh for the Next Seven Days</h2>



<p>There is no respite in sight for Himachal Pradesh for the next seven days. The state is expected to experience torrential rainfall. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in several areas, including Dharamshala, Kangra, Chamba, Churah, Kullu, Mandi, Jogindernagar, Sraj, Manali, Reckong Peo, Rampur Bushahr, and Shimla. An alert has also been issued regarding landslides. The state has suffered losses exceeding ₹1000 crore due to heavy rainfall during the monsoon season. Many roads are closed, and power supply is intermittently disrupted in some areas.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heavy Rainfall Likely in MP, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha</h2>



<p>The meteorological department has also predicted heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Odisha. The department stated that heavy rainfall is possible in these states between 13 August and 17 August.</p>

<p>Chikungunya cases are rapidly increasing in Mumbai, with alarming figures indicating a serious situation. According to the BMC&#8217;s (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) Epidemiology and Public Health Department, a total of 265 cases were reported between January and July 2025, compared to only 46 cases during the same period last year. Maharashtra as a whole recorded 1,512 cases this year, up from 1,189 in 2024.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rain Exacerbates the Problem</h2>



<p>Early onset of monsoon rains in May this year created ideal breeding grounds for mosquitoes, leading to a surge in vector-borne diseases. The situation is similarly worsening in China, with 7,000 chikungunya cases reported since the end of June. The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of the rapidly spreading disease in South Asia.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is Chikungunya?</h2>



<p>Chikungunya is a viral infection caused by the chikungunya virus. It is transmitted by the female <i>Aedes aegypti</i> and <i>Aedes albopictus</i> mosquitoes, the same mosquitoes that spread dengue and Zika viruses. These mosquitoes bite during the day, with <i>Aedes aegypti</i> being active both indoors and outdoors. While fatalities are rare, the illness can be severe in the elderly, young children, and those with pre-existing conditions.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Symptoms and Duration</h2>



<p>The hallmark symptoms include a sudden high fever accompanied by severe joint pain. Other symptoms may include muscle pain, headache, fatigue, nausea, and a red rash, which are also common in dengue and malaria. While the fever may subside within a week, joint pain can persist for up to three months. The similarity of symptoms with other illnesses during this season necessitates consulting a doctor instead of self-medicating.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Treatment and Vaccine</h2>



<p>There is no specific antiviral treatment for chikungunya. Treatment focuses on managing fever and pain with paracetamol, adequate hydration, and rest. While a vaccine has been approved, it is not yet readily available to the general public.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Seasonal Disease</h2>



<p>Chikungunya outbreaks typically occur every 4–8 years, or sometimes after a gap of 20 years. Most outbreaks follow the rainy season when mosquito populations are at their highest.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Prevention</h2>



<p><i>Aedes</i> mosquitoes breed in clean water, particularly in urban areas. Therefore, it is crucial to eliminate stagnant water. Since these mosquitoes bite during the day, protective measures such as wearing long sleeves and trousers, covering legs, and using mosquito nets when outdoors are recommended. As these mosquitoes do not fly long distances, the disease typically spreads within the immediate vicinity of breeding sites.</p>

<p>Crime is on the rise in Ecuador. Criminal activities are frequently reported across the country. Another such incident has come to light. A shooting outside a nightclub in Santa Lucia, Guayas province, Ecuador, early Sunday morning caused widespread panic. The sudden gunfire led to screams and people fleeing for their lives.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Unknown Attackers Carry Out Assault</h2>



<p>According to local police, unknown attackers carried out the assault. The attackers arrived in two cars and on motorcycles and opened indiscriminate fire on people outside the nightclub.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Eight Killed</h2>



<p>Eight people died in the shooting outside the nightclub in Santa Lucia, Guayas province, Ecuador. Seven died at the scene, and one other succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Three Injured</h2>



<p>Three people were also injured in the shooting. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital and are receiving treatment.</p>

<p>Rainfall in Rajasthan in July 2025 has broken records from the past several decades. The state recorded an average rainfall of 285 mm last month, which is 77 per cent higher than the normal average of 161.4 mm. This is the highest rainfall in July since 1956, when 308 mm of rainfall was recorded. Rainfall was also good in 2024. Last year, the state recorded 418 mm of rainfall, while the normal rainfall is considered to be 216 mm. Thus, Rajasthan received more than 60 percent additional rainfall throughout the year, which falls under the category of unusual rainfall. Experts say that this rainfall will have a direct impact on the water table.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Water Level Increased by 6 mm in 2024</h2>



<p>Before the monsoon in 2024, the state&#8217;s average water level was at a depth of 28.83 meters, which has now decreased to 23.01 meters. In other words, the rainfall level in eastern Rajasthan reached 588.7 mm, while the normal average is 303 mm. Meanwhile, western Rajasthan received 273 mm of rainfall, while the normal rainfall is 147 mm. Analysing the four months of the monsoon, 91% rainfall was recorded in June, 101% in July, 221% in August, and 191% in September – meaning every month received above-average rainfall.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heavy Rainfall Directly Impacts Groundwater Level</h2>



<p>This heavy rainfall has directly impacted the groundwater level. The water level has increased by an average of 5.82 meters. This figure has emerged from the Rajasthan Groundwater Department&#8217;s post-monsoon report 2024. Looking at the July 2025 rainfall, the monsoon seems to be benevolent. According to experts, the July rainfall alone will increase the water level by 3 to 4 mm.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">75% of Groundwater Arrives in 4 Months of Monsoon</h2>



<p>Dr. Vivek Agrawal, who works for water preservation, explains that the monsoon is the primary source of groundwater in India. 75% of groundwater arrives in the four months of the monsoon. Many factors are decisive in influencing groundwater recharge, with the ecology of the area, rocks, and soil playing the most significant role. The structure of urban and rural areas also plays a role. Cement roads being built in cities will hinder the future access of water to underground sources. The lack of a proper drainage system is also a hindrance. Rainfall contributes 67% as a groundwater source, while other sources such as rivers, glaciers, and seas contribute 33%.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Highest Water Level Rise in Sawai Madhopur</h2>



<p>In 2024, the highest increase in the water level was 36.35 meters in Khali Dhai, Sawai Madhopur, while the lowest increase was 0.01 meters in Dhirwas, Churu. At 28% of the stations in western Rajasthan, the water level increased by less than 2 meters, while at 34.2% of the stations, especially in the eastern districts, the water level rose by more than 4 meters.</p>


<p>Rajasthan recorded 418 mm of rainfall last year, compared to the normal rainfall of 216 mm.</p>

<p>Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has commented on media speculation regarding the future of India&#8217;s limited-overs stalwarts, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Recent reports suggested that the upcoming ODI series in Australia might be the final chapter in the illustrious careers of this famed duo.</p>



<p>However, Ganguly stressed that decisions regarding their continued presence in the team should be based on their performance. Emphasising the importance of merit and form, Ganguly stated, “Both Kohli and Rohit Sharma have outstanding records in limited-overs cricket. As long as they continue to perform at the highest level, they should continue to play.”</p>



<p>The series, starting October 19th in Australia, marks the beginning of India&#8217;s preparations for the ODI World Cup in South Africa in 2027, a tournament where India will aim to retain its dominance. Following Australia, India will play three ODIs against South Africa in December, continuing its busy international schedule.</p>

<p><strong>Anuppur Horrific Accident:</strong> A devastating accident in Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh, claimed the lives of five people on Monday. A speeding Scorpio reportedly collided with a motorcycle in the Ramnagar police station area, then, after swerving out of control, crashed into a house. The motorcycle driver and his pillion rider, along with three occupants of the Scorpio, died at the scene. Four others sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Kotma Community Health Centre for treatment.</p>



<p>The accident occurred in the Ramnagar police station area. Seven people were travelling in the Scorpio from Kotma towards Belia when it collided with an oncoming motorcycle. Amrit Chaudhary, the motorcycle driver, and his pillion rider were killed instantly. The impact was so severe that initial identification of the victims proved difficult. Eyewitnesses reported that the Scorpio driver attempted to flee the scene but lost control of the vehicle, veering off the road and into a nearby house. Three occupants of the Scorpio also perished in the crash.</p>

<p>Among the deceased were Shubham Ahirwar (शुभम अहिरवार), Rahul Kewat (राहुल केवट), and Saurabh Pradhan (सौरव प्रधान), all passengers in the car. In total, five people lost their lives, while four others sustained injuries and were admitted to the Kotma Community Health Centre. There is a possibility that the seriously injured may be transferred to the district hospital. Police arrived at the scene immediately after the incident and have launched an investigation. One of the deceased is reported to be from Urtan, while four others were residents of Belia.</p>

<p>It is understood that the motorcycle driver, Amrit Lal Chaudhary from Nigwani, and his companion were travelling to Marwahi for a musical performance. The injured include Vikas Singh , Gudda , Kolan alias Chhohri, and Ashish Kewat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Injured Receiving Treatment</h2>



<p>Ramnagar police station in-charge, Sumit Kaushik, stated that the Scorpio was travelling at a high speed. Near Jhiriya Tola on National Highway-43, the vehicle lost control, first colliding with the motorcycle, killing both riders. The car then veered off the road and crashed into a house, resulting in the deaths of three more people. All five bodies have been sent to the hospital for post-mortem, and the investigation is ongoing.</p>

<p>Tonk: Three children from the same family drowned in a pond in Tonk district, Rajasthan. According to Jhirāna Station Officer Hariman Meena, Ankesh Bairava (15), a resident of Saundhiphal village in Chaugai Gram Panchayat under Peeplu sub-division, went into the pond to retrieve his buffaloes. He got into deep water and started drowning. Sunil Bairava (15) and Vikas Bairava (14) jumped in to save him, but could not swim, resulting in the deaths of all three.</p>



<p>The Gram Panchayat administrator, Durga Narendra Singh, informed the Jhirāna police station. The police arrived at the scene and, with the help of villagers, retrieved the bodies from the pond. The bodies were then taken to Peeplu Community Hospital for post-mortem. The police stated that Ankesh, Vikas, and Sunil were all tenth-grade students.</p>

<p><strong>Rajasthan News:</strong> 86-year-old Asaram, serving a life sentence for rape cases involving a minor in Gujarat and Rajasthan, has been granted interim bail extension by the Rajasthan High Court. </p>



<p>The court extended his interim bail until 29 August 2025, citing his health condition. This decision follows a hearing on his appeal filed on 8 August. Previously, the Gujarat High Court also extended his interim bail until the same date due to health reasons.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Court&#8217;s Decision Based on Medical Reports</h2>



<p>Asaram&#8217;s lawyer, Nishant Boda, presented recent medical reports to the court, citing his serious health condition. After reviewing these documents, the court decided to extend the interim bail period.</p>



<p>Asaram is currently admitted to the ICU of Jupiter Hospital in Indore. The Gujarat High Court&#8217;s previous order revealed abnormally high &#8216;troponin levels&#8217; in his blood, indicating serious heart-related problems. His treating physicians have described his condition as critical.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Order to Constitute a Panel of Doctors</h2>



<p>The Rajasthan High Court bench of Justices Dinesh Mehta and Vineet Kumar Mathur issued specific instructions for a thorough investigation into Asaram&#8217;s health. The court ordered the constitution of a panel of expert doctors at a government hospital in Ahmedabad, including two cardiologists.</p>



<p>This panel will investigate Asaram&#8217;s reported illnesses, particularly his heart problems. The court specifically instructed attention to the high &#8216;troponin&#8217; levels, as they can be dangerous for the heart. The panel has been directed to submit a detailed report to the court as soon as possible after completing its investigation.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Life Imprisonment Sentence</h2>



<p>In 2018, a special court in Jodhpur convicted Asaram of rape of a minor and sentenced him to life imprisonment. He was also sentenced in another rape case in Gujarat. Appeals challenging his convictions in these cases are pending in various courts. However, due to his poor health, repeated requests for interim bail have been made and granted by the courts.</p>

<p><strong>Jabalpur Bank Robbery:</strong> A sensational case of a multi-crore bank robbery at gunpoint has come to light in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, on Monday morning. The robbery reportedly took place at 9 am, immediately after the bank opened. Five masked individuals, arriving on separate bikes, entered the bank premises and, brandishing pistols or revolvers, executed the robbery.</p>



<p>The incident unfolded in approximately 10-15 minutes, after which the five masked robbers swiftly escaped the scene. The sensational robbery occurred around 9 am at a branch of the Isaaf Small Finance Bank located near the National Highway in Sihora and Khitauli crossing, even before banking operations had commenced. The accused reportedly arrived at 8:55 am, held bank employees at gunpoint, and executed the robbery before fleeing.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Five Robbers Wore Helmets and Masks</h2>



<p>Initial reports suggested the robbers stole approximately 12 kg of gold and ₹570,000 in cash. However, police have since confirmed the theft of 14.8 kg of gold and ₹500,000 in cash. The estimated value of the stolen gold is in the crores. All the accused reportedly arrived on separate bikes, wearing helmets and masks, with their hands also covered. The police have launched a search for the accused.</p>

<p><strong>MP News: </strong>Measures and initiatives undertaken to curb air pollution in Madhya Pradesh are proving inadequate. In 2024-25, the air quality in 29 district headquarters deteriorated instead of improving compared to the previous year. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in these areas has increased rather than decreased. This includes Indore, once considered the cleanest city in the country. However, Bhopal showed improvement. Notably, the AQI is also rising in tribal-dominated districts like Alirajpur, Dindori, Umaria, and Betul. Rapid development work in smaller districts, coupled with a lack of adherence to standards, is further contributing to air pollution. This shocking revelation has been made by the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Reasons for the Deterioration</strong></h2>



<p>Burning of crop residue (parali and narwai), construction activities, and poor road conditions are primarily responsible for the increased pollution. Dust is generated, leading to a rise in PM-10 and PM 2.5 levels in the atmosphere. This was revealed in the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board&#8217;s 2024-25 annual report. According to officials, the concerned departments in the districts have been informed about the situation and instructed to take action.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Target: 40% Reduction by 2025-26</strong></h2>



<p>The Central Pollution Control Board has declared 131 cities across the country as non-attainment cities. This includes seven cities in Madhya Pradesh: Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Sagar, and Dewas. The Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board&#8217;s report claims an improvement in PM-10 levels in these seven cities. According to the report, the highest improvement of 27% was seen in Jabalpur, while the lowest improvement of 5% was observed in Dewas. The revised target is to achieve a 40% reduction in PM-10 levels or reach the national standard of 60 micrograms per cubic metre by 2025-26.</p>
