
<p>Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has had her security detail significantly upgraded. Following an attack during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ (public hearing) at her camp office on Wednesday, the central government has decided to bolster her protection. Sources indicate that responsibility for her security has been transferred from the Delhi Police to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Deployed for Close Protection</h2>



<p>CM Rekha Gupta already enjoyed Z-category security, but this has now been elevated to Z-plus. Under this new arrangement, CRPF personnel will be deployed for her close protection. Additionally, extra commandos will be stationed at her public appearances, and areas she visits will be under enhanced surveillance.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Security Increased Following Attack</h2>



<p>On Wednesday morning, during the ‘Jan Sunwai’ at the CM’s camp office in Civil Lines, Rajesh Bhai Khimji Bhai Sakaria, a 41-year-old resident of Rajkot, Gujarat, attacked the CM. The CM described the incident as a “plot to assassinate her”. The attacker has been arrested, and questioning is ongoing. Following this event, her security arrangements were reviewed, and the CRPF was immediately assigned responsibility for her protection.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Does Z-Plus Security Entail?</h2>



<p>Z-plus security is one of the highest levels of protection in India, involving more than 20 security personnel, close protection guards, drivers, and escort vehicles. Sources say additional security forces have been deployed around the CM’s residence and office to ensure round-the-clock protection.</p>

<p>This year&#8217;s monsoon season has witnessed heavy rainfall across India. The continuous monsoon rains have led to a significant drop in temperatures nationwide. Due to the heavy rainfall, dams, ponds, rivers, and lakes are overflowing. In the hill states, the rainfall has taken a severe turn, with incidents like cloud bursts being reported. Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir are facing widespread devastation due to floods. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for the coming days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heavy Rainfall Alert for 26 Districts in Rajasthan</h2>



<p>A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for 26 districts in Rajasthan. Considering the heavy rainfall, schools in Dausa district have been ordered to remain closed. The Meteorological Department stated that the monsoon trough is currently passing through Bikaner, Jaipur, Damoh, Pendra Road, and extending to the Bay of Bengal, while another trough line is passing over Haryana and Punjab. The department reported heavy rainfall in Jaipur, Tonk, and other districts on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a red alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in most parts of neighbouring Gujarat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Alert for 19 Districts in Bihar</h2>



<p>The Meteorological Department has stated that the monsoon is reactivating in Bihar. The department issued a heavy rainfall and thunderstorm alert for 19 districts, including Patna. The department warned of winds reaching speeds of 40 kilometres per hour. The continuous rainfall in Nepal has caused the Kosi river in Supaul to swell, leading to flood-like situations in several areas of the district.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Warning of Extremely Heavy Rainfall in MP</h2>



<p>The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of extremely heavy rainfall for 26 districts in Madhya Pradesh (MP). The department stated that the rainfall will continue for the next three days. Alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued for Bhopal, Guna, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Ujjain, Indore, Ratlam, Dhar, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, and Balaghat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Schools Closed in Himachal Pradesh</h2>



<p>Due to incessant rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, the administration has decided to keep schools closed until 7 September. An order issued on 3 September by the Education Department stated that all government and private colleges and schools (including DIETs) in the state will remain closed until 7 September 2025. The Meteorological Department predicted heavy rainfall in Kangra, Kullu, and Sirmaur. The monsoon rains have caused damage exceeding ₹1000 crore to the state, and over 150 people have died in rain-related accidents.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Floods Cause Havoc in Punjab</h2>



<p>Flood conditions persist in all 23 districts of Punjab. Over 35 people have died due to the floods, and more than 20,000 people have been rescued. The floods have damaged 175,286 hectares of crops. In Delhi, the Yamuna river has also crossed the danger mark.</p>

<p>The much-anticipated Vande Bharat Express train has arrived in Jodhpur. This has expedited preparations for the commencement of the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat train service. This train will run from Jodhpur, via Jaipur, to Delhi Cantt.</p>



<p>The train has been stationed at Jajiwal station, beyond Banar station. It is noteworthy that the first Vande Bharat train from Jodhpur is already operational, running to Sabarmati. This will be Jodhpur&#8217;s second Vande Bharat train.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Seven Coaches Chair Car Class and One Executive Class Coach</h2>



<p>The Vande Bharat train running from Jodhpur to Delhi Cantt is white in colour. It will have 8 coaches, including seven chair car coaches and one executive class coach. The train staff will include two TTEs, two crew members, and one guard. The train will be inaugurated virtually.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Eight-Hour Journey to Delhi Cantt</h2>



<p>According to the proposed timetable, the train will depart from Jodhpur at 5:30 AM and reach Delhi Cantt  at 1:30 PM, taking approximately eight hours. During this journey, it will reach Jaipur at 9:30 AM after a four-hour journey from Jodhpur. The train will halt at seven stations between Jodhpur and Delhi. However, the official timetable will be released by the Railway Board.</p>

<p><strong>MP Weather Update:</strong> Monsoon has reactivated in Madhya Pradesh just before its departure. Over 20 districts in the state recorded rainfall on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange and yellow alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall across nearly half the state for Thursday. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall at several locations across the state for the next four days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Low Pressure System Forms</h2>



<p>Currently, a well-marked low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal, off the coast of northern Odisha. An upper air cyclonic circulation is also associated with it. Additionally, the monsoon trough is extending from Bikaner, Jaipur, and Damoh to the well-marked low-pressure area. This has led to an increase in the intensity of rainfall in the state. Many areas in Madhya Pradesh recorded rainfall on Wednesday. Bhopal experienced cloudy skies throughout the day, with heavy rain for about an hour in the afternoon. Around half an inch of rainfall was recorded during this period. Similarly, over 20 locations across the state recorded rainfall.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Alerts Issued for These Districts</h2>



<p><strong>Very Heavy Rainfall Alert:</strong> An orange alert for very heavy rain and thunderstorms has been issued for Sehore, Harda, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Alirajpur, Jhabua, and Dewas. </p>

<p>Meteorologist Abhijit Chakravarty stated that the monsoon system is currently active. The monsoon trough is in a favourable position. Also, the low-pressure area that formed over the Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast has become a well-marked low. Due to this, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at several locations in the state for the next three to four days.</p>

On Tuesday, the US military launched an attack on a ship carrying drugs from Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea. US President Donald Trump announced the attack, stating that the ship was in international waters and operated by the notorious Venezuelan criminal organisation, Tren de Aragua. The US designated Tren de Aragua as a foreign terrorist organisation in February.</p>

<p>Rahul Deshpande made an emotional post on Instagram. He wrote, “My 17-year marriage with Neha has come to an end. We both decided to separate amicably and were legally divorced in September 2024. This decision was made thoughtfully and cordially. We took time to process this change and share it appropriately. Our daughter, Renuka, is our top priority, and Neha and I will jointly raise her.”</p>

<p><strong>Pune to Nashik Distance</strong>: Good news for those travelling between Pune and Nashik! The journey is set to become significantly faster and easier. Currently, covering the 214-kilometre distance between these two major cities in Maharashtra takes around 5 hours. However, a new government project aims to reduce this travel time to just three hours.</p>



<p>This ambitious plan involves upgrading approximately 28 kilometres of the route from Nashik Fata to Rajgurunagar (Khed). An elevated corridor will be constructed along this stretch, reducing the current travel time of one and a half to two hours to a mere 20 minutes. This project will not only shorten the distance between Pune and Nashik but also improve connectivity with Mumbai.</p>



<p>The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has expedited the process. The tendering process is scheduled to commence on 25 September. Simultaneously, land acquisition procedures will also begin. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority and the district administration have received the necessary orders. The plan aims to complete up to 90% of land acquisition.</p>



<p>It is noteworthy that approximately ₹7,827 crore was approved last year for the widening and upgrading of the Pune-Nashik highway. This includes the construction of the elevated corridor. The proposed highway will pass through seven villages and could be approximately 30 km long. Ten entry and exit points will be created to facilitate smooth travel. Around 14 hectares of land will be acquired for the project.</p>



<p>If everything proceeds as planned, the journey between Pune and Nashik will not only be significantly faster but will also offer travellers a new and modern highway experience.</p>


<p>Pune-Nashik Highway: A 28-kilometre stretch of highway from Nashik Fata to Rajgurunagar (Khed) is set to be upgraded.</p>

<p>To facilitate devotees during Ganpati Visarjan (Anant Chaturdashi 2025), Central Railway and Western Railway have announced special midnight local trains. These trains will operate from CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) to Kalyan, Thane, and Panvel, and between Churchgate and Virar. All trains will stop at every station.</p>



<p>The railway stated that special trains will run on the main line (CSMT-Kalyan/Thane) on 4/5 September (Thursday/Friday night), 5/6 September (Friday/Saturday night), and 6/7 September (Saturday/Sunday night). On the Harbour line, special services between CSMT and Panvel will only be available on the night of 6/7 September, the day of Ganpati Visarjan, to ease late-night travel for devotees.</p>
