
<p>Good news for students awaiting the <strong>IIT JAM 2026 Notification</strong>! The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has released the official notification for the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. – JAM 2026, the entrance exam for master&#8217;s level science programmes. This exam opens doors to MSc, MSc-PhD, and other science-related postgraduate courses at IITs, IISc, and other leading institutions across India. <p>US President Donald Trump had reason to celebrate, but his joy was short-lived. On Friday, Trump announced that India had stopped buying oil from Russia, expressing his satisfaction. However, on Saturday, sources reported that Indian oil refineries continue to purchase Russian oil. News agency ANI reported this information. In just one day, Trump&#8217;s claims and his satisfaction were proven unfounded.</p>



<p>Recently, Trump announced imposing a 25% tariff on India and spoke of penalising the country for buying crude oil from Russia.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The US Never Imposed Sanctions on Russian Oil</h2>



<p>While the US has urged India to stop buying Russian oil, the truth is that the US has never imposed sanctions on Russian oil itself. Russian oil remains unrestricted by the US or the European Union. In fact, the US has imposed sanctions on Iranian and Venezuelan crude oil. Indian oil marketing companies are not purchasing crude oil from these two countries.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">India Buys Russian Oil Below the Price Cap</h2>



<p>The US has imposed a price cap on Russian oil, meaning Russia cannot sell oil above a price set by the US. This measure aims to limit Russia&#8217;s oil revenue. This price cap is set at $60 per barrel. Indian companies have adhered to this price cap, purchasing Russian oil below $60. Recently, the European Union recommended a price cap of $47.6 on Russian crude, effective from September.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Europe is a Major Buyer of Russian Gas</h2>



<p>While the US and Western countries urge India to stop buying Russian oil, ironically, Western countries are the largest buyers of Russian gas. Data shows that the European Union has been the largest importer of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG). According to CREA data, the EU purchased 51% of Russian LNG exports until June 2025. China (21%) and Japan (18%) follow.</p>

<p>India&#8217;s purchase of Russian oil is not against any rules. India has consistently bought Russian oil below the price cap set by Western countries. Before February 2022, only 2% of India&#8217;s oil imports came from Russia. Since then, Russia has become India&#8217;s largest oil supplier, accounting for about 40% of its supply. India has saved billions of rupees by purchasing cheaper Russian oil. In the fiscal year 2024 alone, India saved $25 billion by buying discounted Russian oil. India&#8217;s total trade with Russia amounts to $65.69 billion, with oil trade forming the largest part. The US and Western countries&#8217; attempts to dissuade India from buying Russian oil highlight their double standards.</p>

Namo Bharat Train to Reach This Rajasthan City, Cutting Hours-Long Journey to Minutes — Full Route Plan Inside


<p>The government is formulating a large-scale plan to reduce congestion in the National Capital Region (NCR) of New Delhi. The plan involves creating a system to alleviate Delhi&#8217;s traffic woes, including the introduction of the Namo Bharat train service connecting Delhi to Alwar district in Rajasthan. This project will benefit not only the people of Rajasthan but also Haryana on a larger scale.</p>



<p>The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is planning to develop a Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Alwar in Rajasthan to reduce traffic congestion. The Delhi-Alwar RRTS corridor will be developed in three phases. A committee has been formed to determine the locations for the stations.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Delhi-Alwar RRTS to be Developed in Three Phases</h2>



<p>To control the growing population and traffic jams, authorities have decided to run Namo Bharat trains between Delhi and Alwar. The Namo Bharat corridor will be developed in three phases. In the first phase, a 106-kilometre corridor will be developed up to Delhi-Gurugram-SNB (Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Bahadurgarh). In the second phase, a corridor will be developed from Behror to Sotanala, and in the third phase, a corridor will be built from Sotanala to Alwar.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">First Phase Corridor Development</h2>



<p>Due to high traffic pressure near Dharuhera, officials may develop a corridor from Delhi to Dharuhera in the first phase. Except for the Udyog Vihar area, the stations have been finalised by the NCRTC. Due to continuous traffic jams, officials are planning to develop a station near Shankar Chowk. However, the HSIIDC has not approved the construction of a station near Shankar Chowk as it may increase traffic congestion.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Committee to Determine Station Locations</h2>



<p>A committee has been formed to determine the location for the Namo Bharat station near Shankar Chowk. This committee will finalise the location within 10 days. After the location is finalised, further action will be taken to start the ground-level work.</p>



<p>Officials have finalised the route for the RRTS between Delhi and Alwar, except for the Udyog Vihar area. According to the plan, a station will be developed near Shankar Chowk in the Udyog Vihar area to reduce continuous traffic congestion.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Corridor to be Built Along Delhi-Jaipur Highway</h2>



<p>However, the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has not approved the plan to build the Namo Bharat corridor near Shankar Chowk because it will increase traffic pressure. This NCRTC project will be developed along the Delhi-Jaipur highway from Delhi to Alwar.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is the Namo Bharat Train?</h2>



<p>The Namo Bharat train is the country&#8217;s first regional rapid rail service connecting one city to another. This train is operated between major cities with high populations. The aim of this train is to control traffic congestion. Namo Bharat trains are run at intervals of a few minutes, allowing people to travel easily and quickly between cities and surrounding areas.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Current Namo Bharat Operations</h2>



<p>Currently, the Namo Bharat train operates between New Ashok Vihar station in Delhi and Meerut. The distance between New Ashok Vihar and Meerut South is 55 kilometres, with 11 stations in between. There are plans to extend the service from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram. During trial runs between Sarai Kale Khan and Modipuram, the Namo Bharat train covered the 82-kilometre distance in 57 minutes.</p>

<p>Gold reserves discovered in MP: Jabalpur, previously known for its iron ore mines, has now yielded gold, exciting geologists. Gold and other metals have been found alongside iron and manganese ore in the Mahgawan Keolari area of Sihora tehsil in the district.</p>



<p>While a gold deposit was discovered in Katni district a few years ago, this new discovery, after a prolonged search, is located in Jabalpur, adjacent to Katni.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Multi-tonne Reserves</h2>



<p>Recently, geologists from the regional office of the Geological Survey of India collected samples during a survey of the area. Chemical analysis revealed the presence of gold and other metals. </p>



<p>It is estimated that the gold deposit spans approximately 100 hectares. Scientists believe that it could contain several tonnes of gold.</p>

<p>An important update has been released regarding the Agniveer Vayu recruitment process. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has extended the application deadline for Agniveer Vayu recruitment. Candidates who have not yet applied can do so on the official website, <a href="agnipathvayu.cdac.in">agnipathvayu.cdac.in</a>. The new deadline is 4 August 2025; it was previously 31 July.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">IAF Agniveer Vayu Recruitment 2025: Educational Qualifications and Age Limit</h2>



<p>The recruitment process has two distinct educational categories: Science and Non-Science. Candidates must have at least 50% marks in their 12th standard examination from a recognised board with Maths, Physics, and English. </p>



<p>Alternatively, they must have at least 50% marks in a three-year engineering diploma (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, Computer Science, Instrumentation, or IT), along with 50% marks in English. For the Non-Science category, candidates need a minimum of 50% marks in their 12th standard from any stream, with at least 50% marks in English. Alternatively, those who have completed a two-year vocational course must also have at least 50% marks.</p>



<p><strong>Age Limit</strong></p>



<p>The minimum age is 17.5 years and the maximum age is 21 years. Only candidates born between 2 July 2005 and 2 January 2009 are eligible to apply.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Agniveer Recruitment 2025: Selection Process</h2>



<p>Candidate selection will be based on a four-stage process: a written examination, a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), document verification, and a medical test. Male candidates must complete a 1.6-kilometre run in 7 minutes, while female candidates have 8 minutes. Push-ups, sit-ups, and squats will also be part of the test.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Application Fee</h2>

<p>The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for all 38 districts of Bihar. The department says that northeastern Bihar will receive the most rainfall on Saturday. The administration has also advised people to remain vigilant. Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Muzaffarpur have been experiencing rainfall since morning. The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert for heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in these areas.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Districts to Experience Rainfall</h2>



<p>Heavy rainfall is expected in most parts of 32 out of Bihar&#8217;s 38 districts on Saturday. Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Bhabua, Aurangabad, and Arwal districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall. Extremely heavy rainfall is predicted for Araria and Kishanganj, while very heavy rainfall is likely in Madhepura, Purnia, and Katihar. Furthermore, the Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for Samastipur, Begusarai, Supaul, Khagaria, Munger, and Bhagalpur.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reason for Heavy Rainfall</h2>



<p>According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon trough is passing over Darbhanga, Bihar. A low-pressure area will persist near Bihar until 5 August. This is causing heavy rainfall in several districts across north, east, west, and south Bihar. On Sunday (3 August), the highest rainfall is expected in 19 districts of North Bihar. After this, rainfall activity is expected to decrease slightly.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">August Weather Forecast</h2>



<p>According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in some parts of the south-western region, i.e., Shahabad, is likely to remain below 34°C in August, while in the remaining areas, it is likely to remain above 36°C. Rainfall activity is expected to be normal this month.</p>

<p>The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts in Rajasthan following widespread rainfall across the state. Light to moderate rain was recorded in most parts of eastern Rajasthan, with heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas. </p>



<p>Western Rajasthan also experienced light to moderate rainfall, with heavy showers in isolated locations. The highest rainfall was recorded in Shahpura, Jaipur, at 156 millimetres. The highest maximum temperature was recorded in Ganganagar at 37.0 degrees Celsius, and the lowest minimum temperature was recorded in Sirohi at 20.1 degrees Celsius. The IMD has forecast further rainfall for the next 48 hours.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Orange Alert in 6 Districts</h2>



<p>The IMD has issued an orange alert for Ajmer, Jaipur, Sikar, Churu, Nagaur, and Pali districts, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning.</p>



<p>A yellow alert has been issued for Alwar, Bhilwara, Bundi, Dausa, Jhunjhunu, Kota, Rajsamand, Tonk, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Jodhpur, and Sri Ganganagar, predicting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tomorrow&#8217;s Forecast</h2>



<p>The IMD has issued a yellow alert for eight districts for tomorrow, predicting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning in Ajmer, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh, Nagaur, and Sri Ganganagar.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">IMD Forecast</h2>



<p>According to the IMD, a circulation system persists over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining eastern Rajasthan, leading to the ongoing heavy rainfall. However, there is a strong possibility of relief from heavy rainfall from August 1st. However, some parts of the Shekhawati region and Bikaner division may still experience isolated heavy rainfall on August 1st.</p>
